only when required (like adding vWii support).
I guess he doesn't have enough time to work on it regularly.

You need an update or a specific fix?

Does syncing game saves with a server sound plausible, so that saves can be automatically shared between multiple consoles/Dolphin?

I like the idea (as long as you don't play the same game at the same time on different places).
I don't know if it's possible to initialize the network while in game, as it would require partial EmuNAND to redirect save games to network and currently EmuNAND doesn't work with Wifi. All nintendo multiplayer and eshop DLC don't work when in EmuNAND. We didn't find the problem or how to fix it. Maybe it works in LAN but not with Nintendo network.

In that case, maybe it would be better for the launcher to sync the files before and after playing instead of having the cIOS do it inside the game?

It's doable, but not easy for the user (you would need to always return to the loader when you exit your game or remember to re-launch the loader if you shutdown'd the console while playing, wait for network to init and save data to be sent to always keep the savegame up to date).
The idea of cloud saves is nice, but I don't think it's good idea to implement it in the loader's side. having it managed by the cIOS would be less confusing (more transparent for the user, just an option to enabled, and would save in real time instead of requiring a return to loader).

I think it will stay at an idea state. it won't be added to cIOS or loaders.

Fair enough, I've never done any Wii development so can't assess how integration into cIOS would fare. The loader idea is decent as I imagine it would be simpler to implement and still useful, even if more convoluted to use than cIOS integration. I may take a look at the source for a loader to see if I can get something working :)

What does it mean when it says net_gethostbyname failed: -6? This happens when I try to instsall 250(57) and 251(58). Using beta 52 vwii

The errors seems to be related in resolving the Host name (human readable website's URL) into an IP.

check your DNS settings.
try using manual setup and put 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS servers
or use your own's provider's DNS address.

  • d2x v10 Beta
    + Higher NAND-Emulations Compatibility
    - Only 1 USB Port supported
    - no Plug&Play

    d2x v10 == d2x v8 + some improvements from d2x v9
    (d2x v10 = v8 + problematic hdd fix from v9 + vWii base support)
  • d2x-alt v10 Beta
    - Not so good NAND-Emulation compatibility
    + Both USB Ports supported
    + Plug&Play

    d2x v10-alt == direct d2x v9 successor
    (d2x v10-alt = v9 + vWii base support)

    So, if you don't use d2x on a vWii(Wii-U) and your harddisk is working without problems with your Wii and you not playing WiiWare-Games I don't see any reason to update from d2x-v8 to d2x-v10)

    If you play WiiWare-Games (NAND-Emulation), then you get more Games working.

Why d2x is still in Beta status - i have no idea.
When will we see an d2x final of v10? - No idea. What is blocking it? - No idea.

Or probably an d2x v11 which is both good in NAND-Emulation, Plug&Play and both USB-Ports? Would be great :yaywii:

Thanks for clarification. I'd seen that list of d2x v8~v10 but never a list of games. I haven't used NAND emu yet and I only use HDD loading on the Wii (with no problems) so, I guess I'm fine until I decide to hack my vWii.

As a reaction to the underlined bit:
Never, unless some coder takes up the challenge, davebaol has made it clear there is a VERY SMALL chance (read no chance) he will continue the project.

Sorry, extreme newbie here but I am having the exact same problem with the TMD versions being one point off.... I also had a previously Modded Wii but someone else did the mod so I have no idea the settings that may have been involved.... The old mod was gashed when my Dad unwittingly did an update from a commercial Donkey Kong game that someone purchased for my son... This wiped out the home brew channel but the backup launcher still shows up in the menu channels: I wonder if this has something to do with it? Residual old mod stuff? I know absolutely nothing about this and am on a super huge learning curve trying to get this set up again. Any ideas or suggestions in plain English for a learner would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your patience.
