Ok, I apologize in advance for my stupid questions, and I realize you must get a lot of these, I am very new to this and confused.
alright, I was researching the best hack/flashcart for my dsixl on the newest firmware, and I have found 2 that seem best. First off is the obvious supercard dstwo. The second is the r4i gold rts, which is less expensive. Now for the questions.

1. From what ive read, the dstwo can play ds games, gba games, and snes games. Am I correct? Is it possible to play 3ds games on my dsi xl? ( I figured you could, seeing as theres a 2d option on the 3ds?
2. Can the r4i gold rts play gba or snes games along with ds games smoothly enough to be enjoyable?
3. Is there anything else besides the flashcard, card reader and micro sd card I would need to buy? seems like at some websites it comes with a charger and some not. is this needed?
4. I would be buying the dstwo from here: http://www.modchipcentral.com/store...o-w-free-usb-reader-and-usb-charge-cable.html
and the r4i gold rts from here: http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149
are these places safe to buy from and are those the right products?

I have seen the "which flashcart is right for you" thread with the chart, but im just not sure.
to clarify, what I want is a trustable flashcart that can run and save ds games on the newest firmware, is mostly easy to use, preferably plays things like gba, and of course I could always save money if possible ;) Thanks so much, especially if you answer the qustions instead of providing links. Ive been through about everything possible and still need some exact clarification. Thank you

1. You can not play 3DS games on DSTwo on a DSi. 3DS is a new handheld not a revision. The only 3DS flashcard is the Gateway which only works on 3DS. duh
2. No
3. No
4. Since you live in the US order both items from here.

The DSTwo is for you since you want gba and snes.

1 - No. 3DS games are not just 3D-capable. The 3DS is a new system with a lot more power and junk.

2 - Not fluidly (DS games work fine, SNES/GBA not). If you want emulation the DSTwo is the best flash cart. But emulation on any DS line is meh, something like a PSP would be better.

3 - You just need the flash cart, the MicroSD, and the reader yes. But do not get the MicroSD and reader from the sites that sell flash carts. They ship out cheap, low-quality ones that tend to cause all sorts of issues and die. Get your MicroSD(s) and reader from a real store.

4 - Yes both of those are right.

The R4i Gold is the recommended budget cart, but the DSTwo has the best record for surviving updates (it's the only cart to not need multiple new models as time went on), and the DSTwo has far better SNES/GBA emulation than any of the other carts (though emulation of those systems on the DS is still not the best).

OK thanks, I think I will go with the dstwo, and buy an SD card elsewhere. What size SD card should I get? I'm not sure what size ds games normally are, but I'm guessing an 8gb SD card would be enough, although if a 4gb is plenty then I would go with that.

DS games range from 8MB to 512MB. Then again, the only english 512MB games are Black 2 and White 2. There is a bunch of good 256MB DS games, such as Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest IX, Professor layton 3 and 4, Pokemon Black and White and conquest, etc. The median size of DS games though is about 32MB, though, so you would be able to fit about 256 games on an 8GB card, though a mean is probably a more appropriate measure in this case. Really though most games 32MB or under are pretty bad... and some games are really big (pokemon).

Honestly, if it's a case of getting a 16GB card for 15$ or a 32 for 20$, get the 32. Then you'd have space for movies and such too.
