Gateway flashcart - A 3DS flashcart that plays 3DS games.
DSTWO flashcart - A DS flashcart that can run on the 3DS and DSi and play ONLY the DS library and homebrew.

As to the subject of money, there isn't any mention as to if the OP's friend is poor or not. What he said was "is he safe to purchase gateway?" This is a matter of meeting the requirements the gateway flashcart.

Is he able to purchase the Gateway 3ds? I say Yes but ....
a. your friend must wait gateway to support 6.3. since for now is onlyf or 4.5 or lower
b. if your friend is have NAND backup from older firmware (4.5 or lower), is can be restore back to older one if have good dump.
c. Buy another 3ds with older firmware, 4.5 or lower.
d. give/rent your 3ds to your friends.

Not much he can do now til they release one for the 6.2 FW, hopefully.

I dunno, doesn't look promising for those who accidentally updated to 6.2 prior to the Gateway being released. We're gonna have to wait and see what they can pull off.

Yes, but I haven't updated to 6.3, turned off WiFi and other internet-related features. I was one of the poor pillocks that accidentally updated to 6.2 two days before the Gateway was released So yeah, I'm not holding my breath. If they release an exploit that works with it great, if not, I'll move on and wait till the Wii U gets hacked.

The team originally said they want to get it working on anything up till 6.2, at least that's what I remember seeing somewhere, but frankly, all the elitists that have 4.5 can continue to rub it in our faces Maybe they'll have it work with that version but I ain't holding my breath

Unless they support multiple ROMs on an SD card....yeah right. The Wii U will be hacked before that happens.
