So, this was announced

What do you guys think? I think it'll be pretty great to play vita games on tv. The device will retail for about $95 in japan and It can do remote play with the ps4. There's one thing I'm not certain of, this may be a dumb question but is a ps vita console need?

Thanks

It's like the bastard child of the Vita and an Apple TV.

Why buy a Vita if this plays Vita games natively? (Aside from playing on the go, that is. I know a fair amount of people who never take portable game systems anywhere. They just play them at home.)

Something's missing from this story.

Some games have to be patched is probably the catch to it.

I doubt something like Frobisher Says will work with it. Anything that relies solely on the touchscreen(s) would probably be a no-go. While I know the PS4 Dualshock has one touchscreen, I doubt it has 2.

I think Sony already replied that they are focusing the touch screen features to the R3/L3 buttons by it remains to be seen. The rear touchpad mapped on the PS4's touchpad could work.

i really wonder what the usb 2.0 will be used for except for DS3/DS4 pairing. media play would be great.

also is it only me who is irritated by the fact that this device has remote play for ps3 disabled? why disable a feature both available on psp and ps vita?

it surely isn't a technical limitation as the device can stream ps4.

IMO remote play for the PS3 is all but useless anyway. Very few games support it and when I tried it it was slow as hell.

it is a different story with a cfw ps3. more games can be unlocked for remote play plus i am using showtime media player. with my external harddisk plugged to the ps3, my psp go becomes a wireless media center.

also most of the remote play problems (at least for psp) come from the lack of additional analog stick and L2,R2 which is no longer an issue with vita tv which uses the exact same dualshock 3 with ps3.

even if it this feature has problems, why just butcher it? shouldn't they leave the choice to the customers, especially when it will cost them 0$ to include the feature? just put it there and don't advertise it, that is all.
