I was just wanting to hear some people opinions on whether its a good idea to get a ps3 or not. Right now all I have is a hacked Wii, and an Original Xbox with a stack of like 50 games or so. Iv'e gotten completely bored with my Xbox, but not my Wii as much. The only thing that I dont like about wii is it isnt HD (really not a huge deal) and there a lot of lag in fast pace games, especially online. Such as, call of duty which is one of my favorite games. Also, there NO GTA, NO saints row either. So I just want to know your guy's opinion on wheter or not I should save for one.

You definitely should, however if you plan on hacking one, either get a downgradable model or a model with 3.55 firmware or lower.

I wouldn't plan on hacking it, but which one would you recommend, Fat, Slim, or Super Slim?

The Slim is my personal favorite - it's practically free of the YLOD problems which plagued the Fat model and at the same time it has better build quality than the Super Slim. While you're at it, get PSPlus as well. US PSN Instant Game Collection isn't nearly as good as the European one, but it's still a good deal - monthly games are nothing to frown upon. :yayps3:

If you have no interest in a PS4 or XBox One, yes definitely!

I've owned a 360 since Christmas 2007, and picked up a PS3 in August. I think I like the PS3 more.. Especially with a Playstation Plus membership.

Currently there seems to be more PSN releases than XBox Live Arcade releases.

I also have a Vita and still have my PSP, so Playstation plus is one hell of a deal.

Yup. PS3 with PS+, especially if you live in Europe, but US too, is EASILY worth it. So many games you can pick up for cheap nowadays as well. Reminds me I still need to see if I can get Metal Gear Rising somewhere.

Just something to add - before you buy a PSPlus subscription, there are competitions online/codes in select game boxes allowing you to try out Plus for free for a month, but they only work once and only if you never used Plus before - that way you can get an extra free month which stacks up with whatever Plus subscription you buy. :yay:

Yes, absolutely, because the best games come out at the end of a consoles life cycle and there are already tons of cheap/GH/multi-game discs out there that even on a meager budget, you can play some really fun games.
The super slims are much smaller which is nice but the top slide loading isn't so much. In a simple answer, I'd get a slim again but the super slims are not bad, just not as nice.

Off topic but I'm also interested in a PS3. My question is, for games that are available on both a PS3 AND the 360, are the PS3 versions generally a little inferior or is this something that varies from title to title?

If you have/are going to get both, I'd say make your decision based on the controller. Most multiplatform games are very close to each other on the PS3/360. If you prefer the 360, buy the 360 version. If you prefer the PS3 controller, buy the PS3 version. Both consoles have quite a few interesting exclusives and are worth owning, but apart from a few single games there is little to no advantage for taking either version on multiplatform games IMO.

Also @OP: Yes. It's easily worth it. The game library is huge and the PS3 works with Netflix and the likes pretty well (1080p playback among other things).

The differences (unless you are specifically looking for them) should be marginal when comparing the same game. Time constraints/poor use of the hardware/bad programming should be more of an issue when comparing the same titles across both formats.

I have both but title exclusivity/user base and what my friends have is more of a consideration with what I buy. You also seem to get better value for your money with Playstation+ than Xbox Live Gold.
