If you want good performance at an affordable price, then AMD's the way to go. Since this is a budget build, I would assume price is more important than power consumption.

To be honest, I don't think overclocking is very wise on a budget platform. It will have a standard (or lower) motherboard and the basic fan, which...isn't the safest to do this sort of stuff on. Depending on the manufacturer, they'll probably already set the BIOS settings in advance to make the best out of the rig that is still safe.What about overclocking, then? This is, after all, an advice thread.They're designed to operate within safe temperatures at stock clocks with a stock cooler. You can even get a slight overclock with stock coolers. GPUs output much more heat, when I wanna warm up my room I just play something to stress my two 6950s.
