Hey all,

I accidentally installed a regular Wii IOS58 over the vWii's IOS 58. I believe I currently have IOS58 v6176 installed for IOS58 and I can no longer use the HBC.

I tried following a lot of the steps in this thread, but nothing worked for me. I have the vWii IOS58 downloaded from that thread, but I just need a way to install it...

http://gbatemp.net/threads/vwii-semi-bricked.353595/

I tried running all the boot.elf and boot.dol files through smash stack and every time it freezes my vWii and I have to pull the plug.

I tried using the boot files for YAWMM, WiiModLite, and of course hackmii to re install the HBC.

I unfortunately can't run any syschecks and my HBC channel is gone as I deleted it thinking it would help me be able to re install it correctly... every time I tried to load it up, it would also freeze the vWii and i'd have to pull the plug.

So... my vWii still works and I can play games through it.. but I can't run any homebrew.

I feel like an idiot... Can anyone help me out? Any suggestions?

I just wanna bring this vWii back to working order.

Can you run Letterbomb?

What does Letterbomb have to do with vWii on the Wii U?

Anyway, my only recommendation would be to try what was suggested on the thread you already mentioned. If nothing in the comments works, you might also try running an official Wii U online update and hope it reinstalls your vWii IOS58.

Is there any specific way to run the boot.elf or boot.dol files?

I've been leaving the private folder from smash stack in the root of the SD and then placing the boot.dol or boot.elf file from YAWMM or WiiModLite in the root of the SD to try and boot from them when selecting the SD card in the stage builder menu to try and boot from it.

Is this the right way to do that?

You can also run WiiXplorer and run boot.elf files and dol files manually through there.

I just tried to load WiiXplorer through SmashStack and had no luck. any boot.elf or boot.dol file I try to load through it... it just freezes the whole system and I have to pull the plug. I also checked and there are no updates avaliable for the console either and vWii mode stripped the system setting menu for Wii mode. Any other ideas?

ModMii didnt work out for me :(

I was gonna say try ahead and install cIOS249 to run ModMii so you can install IOS58 vWii then uninstall cIOS249, but as suggested by Team Twizers, you really shouldn't install IOS, can vWii run Wii updates from a Wii game?

If not then I don't know what else to say except sending it to Nintendo (Its just 1 IOS, they won't surely think you tried to hack the vWii mode)

Well then, your best bet is either send it to Nintendo and hopefully they would fix it without noticing (10% success out of 100%) or just wait for a new Wii U update which MIGHT fix vWii as well.

I've tried smash stack about 15-20 times already. The problem is, I think it may run through IOS58, which is damaged on my vWii.

Smash Stack doesn't use IOS58, but whatever you're trying to load probably does. That's why the other thread recommended using something like Wii Mod or Homebrew Launcher to reinstall the correct IOS58.

When you have a console like that you have to try every measure, and ModMii might use different IOS despite IOS58 which is the one causing the freezing.

Stop wasting my time.
ModMii is a PC program, it has nothing to do with freezes or WiiU's IOS.
That's why he said to stop telling users wrong informations (and possibly dangerous, if he goes and install Wii's IOS downloaded from ModMii on his WiiU!)

That's why I'm saying not to install more IOS, we all know before hacking that installing system IOS or uninstalling them is just dangerous.
