Hello everyone. I recently got two DS Lite's, and would like to reflash both BIOSes with FlashMe, so that I can run homebrew DS binaries from a Supercard Mini SD. (If I understand what I've read correctly, this is possible.) I am aware that a PassMe is required to do this, but it doesn't make sense to buy one for just two uses. Is there anyone here in the central Ohio (U.S.A.) area who can reflash two DS Lite's for me? I am willing to offer some compensation, if desired.

I'm hoping this is the correct place to ask this question on the forum; if not, please let me know.

Flashme lets you stay in DS mode so you run things from a slot2. Pointless since your limited to 2GB of storage, assuming your using a EZ-Flash IV.

Flashme is obsolete because you can run everything in DS mode from a slot1.

---

If this was 2007, the use of Flashme would have been normal. You would have to manually also have to DLDI patch any homebrew app (this is the part where newbies using Flashme tend to stop, all modern slot1 flashcarts auto DLDI patch for you.)

---

If you don't have a EZ-Flash IV or a supercard slot2 already, your SOL trying to get one now.

Thanks, everybody! And yes, I am aware that there are slot-1 devices for DS homebrew. I have a Supercard Mini SD, and don't see any reason to buy a slot-1 device if I can make a slot-2 device also work, as I can also use a slot-2 device in a GBA.

According to Wikipedia, "Once it [FlashMe] is installed over the existing firmware on the DS, homebrew applications can be booted directly from SLOT-2." Which is exactly what I'm looking for. If this will not work with the Supercard Mini SD, let me know.

And, Monty Kensicle, are you in central Ohio? "Metro City Police Department" doesn't pull up anything relevant on Google. If this is for real, you have my thanks in advance. PM me some specifics, and we can work something out to reflash the DS Lite's. I suppose somebody with the police department should be, well...trustworthy :D .

that's not true, that is just an optional thing it does

Saying that it is false then saying it does what you said is false is the same as you being confused and not knowing what your talking about.

---

Flashme only does 2 things of importance.
1. remove the health screen.
2. boot slot2 in DS mode.

hey! you said "Flashme removes the health warning only." which really is not true, because that is not the only thing it does... you make it sound like i said flashme does NOT remove the health warning, and really, i didn't say that! :) it seems that you are confused... not me lol
sure flashme lets you boot slot2 in ds mode, and helps protects your ds from getting bricked, but it doesn't have to remove the health screen. (there are different versions)

2 things of importance, next time read the whole thing.
And here it is ....
Flashme removes the health warning only. Homebrew can be run from any flashcart regardless if you flash a DSL or not.

And obviously you are not aware or forgot about flashme_stealth which DOESN'T remove the health screen, thus making it effectively invisible.
And it's primary use is to allow to run DS code from the slot 2, bypassing obsolete passme devices.
Also on the slot 2 Supercard, there is a small file ( I forgot the name but I can find out ) that you can put in the root of the card and provides auto DLDI patching to every homebrew.
It does exactly what the OP is trying to achieve. Suggesting him to get a slot 1 device instead is totally irrelevant to this conversation.

Sorry I'm on joshuatm side on this debate.
And I only jumped in because I wanted to point out your confusion as well but got beat to it by joshuatm...;)

OK, I'm glad to hear that there are some fellow devvers who can reflash the DS Lite's, but I did ask if there was anyone in central Ohio :). If not, I suppose I can mail 'em to someone who can do it, just so long as the total expense is less than that of a slot-1 card, or I might as well get one of those.

I suppose that the question really is, "Is there anyone in central Ohio with a slot-1 DS card that I could borrow?" If they've reflashed a DS Lite before, that's a plus, of course. I've found plenty of advice on the Internet on how to reflash a DS, and also what not to do.

By the way, here's DarkFader on reflashing a bricked DS Lite: "A DS-lite is easier to fix; You can plug the bad firmware RFU module into a running DS and flash it from there." Apparently, if one has a flashed DS Lite, subsequent Lite's can be reflashed. Which means that if I have to send a DS to someone to reflash it, I don't have to ship both! (Saves shipping costs and time.)

i had to fix my ds lite once (which had flashme), i forget exactly how i did it, but i needed another ds, and yeah i got it working in the end.
but for actually installing flashme, i don't think that is right about you would only need to send one ds lite, i can't see how you would install flashme on the other ds... but maybe it is possible if someone else said it?
if anyone could give more information about that, then good, but hmm i don't think it works that way.

-edit. if you didn't have a ds lite, if it was the old ds, you could have been able to use wifime, if you have the right hardware, and install flashme wirelessly, very cool, but in your situation, sorry :(
