If you stay on 5.x and the fix comes for just 6.x and not 5.x... then you can just use a game to update for 6.x

So like I keep telling everybody, STOP FUCKING UPDATING YOUR GODDAMN 3DS UNITS YOU DUMBASSES

EDIT: That typo wasn't intended!

Firmware 4.5 was like AGES ago. Gateway NEVER said anything about being in firmware 4.5 until like a few weeks back.

How many "We will ship this week" they have said? IDK you but when I see a video or a Review from someone other than Gateway then I'll call it legit.

It's too bad a lot of us updated once the exploit by yellows8 and neimod was patched. I (as were most) was under the impression that their exploit would never see the light of day. Hopefully once the Pokemon anti-piracy hits, there will be demand for a new exploit.

I think when they made their first FAQ, they hoped that they will manage to include this "fixing" inside 3DS card. Probably later they fond that easier and cheaper will be just add additional DS card.

Who is encouraging to update? Are you understanding what was written?
First, Maxkhoon, who was asking, is on 5.0 means your advice to stay on 4.5 is....
Second, Animal Crossing was released, but no any update to it. It means that he don't need to update firmware to newest, to download update of game, because there is no update.

Fine, I guess I didn't understand, and had a major brain derp because I thought I understood, and I didn't know that I wasn't understanding.

GBATemp's village idiot strikes again. See ya around, I'll be leaving this thread now.

Maybe after they release the cart it will be possible to softmod the 3ds, nowadays the "piracy" thing is about sharing not for profits, at least among the end-users ; glad to remember how many games i could enjoy on the wii just by downloading some files. The ds-lite was there too easy as well with a flash cart.

Maybe we should support our beloved "developers" buying their products, but internet was formed us just to take. "Want something? Just search for it" You can get almost all the intangibles for free on the web. (PC - all free) (Cel(Smart)phone - all free) (Videogames - All free) (Movies, music, long etc) it just need time to overcome the new devices or products. (still wating for the new movies to surface on the web with better quality than a cam) U dont want to pay for somethig, just wait a little.

Still got few originals, but we should enjoy our "free"dom" as long as it last.

.....lots of time... Sry.

Well, I don't mean to be picky or anything, however the internet is used for things that aren't it's original purpose.
Your idea of want something and just taking isn't quite as legal as one would think. Movies, Games, Music, etc, they're all made by people that earn money by doing those things, of course that the average person wants to have more than they can normally afford, however it's not a very nice thing to do. For example, people that smoke a lot, if they really wanted to play a game they could try and cut a bit on smoking and with the money saved they could buy a game in no time (I know someone that actually does that), people waste money on things they don't need so your point of view is a bit on the arrogant side. Going to the movies costs 5€ over here, if I don't waste money on junk food or anything I don't really need, I can use that money to buy the ticket for the movies.

People simply need to prioritize things, and with the leftover money from paying bills, food, etc, etc, buy the things instead of simply pirating.

I have no problems with piracy, sometimes I download a game to check it out and if I like it I'll buy it, sometimes if I download a song and if I might buy the whole album, same for movies. But the idea of simply pirating everything, waiting for everything to be 'free', isn't a very good way to see things.

Anyway.. The second flashcard being a DS one seems interesting, I wonder if it'll have wood or their own custom firmware.

Can we just.. drop the entire piracy discussion altogether?
I'm sure that there are many, many of those threads in existence already!

Let us just focus on the GW3DS!

---

I think that the Blue cart being a DS cart will make sense, cause AFAIK DS carts are not under the jeopardy of being region locked.

(Imagine you have a Japanese 3DS, purchase GW, and cannot use the Blue Cart to 'setup' your 3DS Q.Q)

I am a bit worried about what the blue cart does, actually.

What if:
1. blue cart modifies firmware
2. one day [the user] decides to update firmware
3. 3DS is now corrupted due to updating the modified areas (some [kind of crappy] reasons like that)

3DS ambassador a/c, existing apps, maybe even saves of apps (because of the new weird structure to check nand for save id),
ALL LOST!?

(my assumption is that if firmware/3ds corrupted, even if it contains a factory reset, it is like reformatting, hence all these valuable non-backup-able non-transferable due to corruption, all lost T.T)

-snip-
The bundled blue ds card, is in essence a standard DS cart capable of both DS backups and home brew for DS mode
-snip

I'll like to believe that there will be a SD cart slot to use it for backups homebrew,
But I wonder how does it do both 3DS setting up and homebrew?
(special menu with software switch, hardware switch, etc.)

No piracy discussion....
--------------------

Already got some 3ds roms; they are growing now, (maybe confirming the 3ds piracy); still missing a reseller in my country; if the ds cart is a normal (standar) cart they could sell separately (the software is going to be publicly released day-one), i wonder how long the competition will delay in copy the device. My XL little Pikachu needs games to play with. So much hype with the cart, but delay for so long.

I had a question regarding the new all black 3DS XL that is going to be released on August 11th. Are the odds more likely that it will come with a much newer firmware seeing as it's a completely new system or maybe it just has old internal components with a new external shell? I was waiting for the reviews on the Gateway to come out before I head out and buy a 3DS and pray it's 4.5 or below however I would very much prefer an all black system so this has me stumped. :(

Now that Nintendo is aware of Gateway 3DS, they will be doing what they can to reduce the impact it will cause.
My guess is it will be 5.1, or if they had time 6.0...same goes for Games...anything that's not currently on the production line will be above 6.x from now on.

Interesting, hope that the release comes out good, meeting our expectations. But no, one thing that I am MAD about is that it's one SD per game. FML

It is a bigger shock to the cheapo people that like to buy the lowest capacity microSD or the cheapest 3DS flashcart they can get and ask "How many 3DS roms can I fit on a 4GB microSD" and the answer turns out to be maybe 1 game if it is small enough.

You guy do realize this is a custom 1:1 cart? It just bypasses the 'security' of the cart, from which I've read, making the 3DS see this as an actual game cart. Therefore, there would be no way to do multiple games /cart.

I'll hold out on news about the Gateway until August 30th. Otherwise, I'm updating and redeeming a damned eShop code so I can get SMT4 and the $30 bonus that goes with it.
