Hacking How to backup/restore DS games? (retail)

I want to play Pokemon HeartGold on my retail cart.

The events are over, but you can use Pokesav to edit your save file and put the event items in.

How can I rip the save out of my HG, edit it, then inject it into the retail cart?

I don't want to buy action replay

Please tell me a safe method and a tutorial.

yes i have a ds lite and r4i gold

i have dumped the save successfully, edited it successfully

but how do i restore it?

i am running "savegame-manager" on my r4i

when i choose to restore, it gets stuck at "reading ftp directory"

it won't detect the .sav file in there so i can't restore it

i am using savegame-manager latest version

the method must show how to dump a save, and restore it

please use pokemon hg/ss/b/w/bw2

also try your method before posting

The thread I linked has links to specific tools (and threads about them) used for HG/SS, since the older tools don't work for them.

EDIT: Also what's the filesize of the save file that you're dumping?

when i used sg-manager 0.30 the filesize was 510KB, which i ran through a converter to get 512KB
when i used sg-manager 0.24 the filesize was 512KB like it should be

i can dump the game

just need to restore it

if you can not get the save

you have 2 system so

use a rom of the game and edit the save to get the event pokemon
then trade to the real game

If you're willing to buy online, you can get many tools that can dump and flash saves. The R4i Savedongle has support for all DS that have an IR sensor in them.
