Production probably started on Monday from an email I receive from them that very day.
"
we started manufacturing, we recommend people to not preorder because if
something happens, and there is a delay of a few weeks, people get upset. we
give green light when we know we are only like 10 days or less away. We should
in fact do this announcement this week, but until then, we recommend not to
preorder.

I also would like to know.

Email details:

production has started, we did not work yet on 6.x as we have other things to finish for 1st firmware, but we think it should not be a problem to have it compatible soon after with an update.

At least it looks like it is coming. I don't mind really that it doesn't work on the latest firmware, let's just hope they stay active and patch when needed.

now that captain obvious (me) came to this thread, everybody who's still bothering with this deserves to get scammed.
it's not even real, but they'll still make money out of piracy...idc about piracy. if you're gonna yarrharr, it's your buisness, but don't make money out of it.
that's where i'm getting majorly pi**ed.

I still believe...well i at least give them time to prove themselves, they are still answering people, that is more than Crown3sd EVER did.

(that is prolly the reaction you want...but i could not resist)

How do you know it's not real? And obviously you do care about piracy, since you have a stance on it. There are tons of flashcarts/mod chips/what-have-you for tons of systems, and almost all of them enable piracy to occur. And the ones that don't are very popular (I think there was one for DS called iSomething). Unless you expect all of these companies to give away their products for free?

Actually what would be the best move is for them to release the cart working on 5.x and then after the frist bacth are distrubuted put out the 6.x update. I say this because if they ship the cart with 6.x functionality and Nintendo gets one then they may block it with another firmware update before people get a chance to update their systems and the card.

I agree with others that if this is the real deal they should have never tipped their hands so soon. They should have waited until after they were in production and within days of delivering to vendors. Maybe they learned their lesson and are playing coy now so Nintendo will not know if they are functioning.

One thing that is interesting is when asked in an interview about 'used' games Shiggy said (and I paraphrase) 'we are not bothered by used games....blah blah....if publishers (like us) would make awesome fucking games then people would never want to sell them and would keep them and play them forever and ever.....what we are worried about is piracy and people running iligitemate copies (which is interesting considering currently neither WiiU or 3DS is cracked)'. So Nintendo is obviously aware of Gateway and WiiUKey being talked about and are taking the threat seriously....which they should considering they are both systems maker and major publisher and want to stay consumer friendly and not impose DRM shit like other manufacturers and publishers are itching to. I respect them for that and given that DS and Wii were both totally cracked for most their lives I can see how for the good of their own sales and their 3rd party relationships they want/need to keep these new systems secure.

Crown3DS and Gateway3DS are obviously the same.

i guess you're right about the fact that i do seem to care about piracy.
they just shouldn't sell a device solely for the purpose of piracy, cloaking behind the "revolution of watching videos, listening to music and watching images on your DS". (i know, i'm probably alone here with that opinion.)
you can tell it's fake, because Crown3DS was proven fake, and thanks to their pretty dumb mistake of making their "new" site looking like their old one (almost 1:1), we now know that Crown3DS = Gateway3DS.

i've braced myself for "you don't say" replies, but people asking me why i think it's a fake?

yeah...4 weeks has passed as the original date June 15

lolno. First, your time keeping skills are horrible; it hasn't even been 3 weeks since June 15. Second, Gateway never said June 15th, they said end of June and it's been 5 days since then, and they hadn't anticipated it being blocked when they first stated that.

Even Nintendo aren't that stupid to risk banning a legit game cart in favor to ban the other hackers out there.

Assuming Nintendo gave each cartridge a unique ID (unprecedented?), they'd only be banning one legitimate cartridge, and that would be the one that was ripped by the Release group, why would they give a sh_t about banning the guy(s) who released the rom?

I miss the days when piracy meant you stole someones boat. No firmware nonsense, just straight boarding a ship with some swords and straight up jacking a boat. When history looks back on piracy they're going to the misconception of someone playing spongebobs kitchen 2 weeks before release. Its wrong

I am chill and I'm not complaining even though it may look it to noobs and nitwits. :P I am just stating what I think. I'm not really jumping at pirating more games, could care less.
No sir, with all due respect all you're doing is showing off and claiming that everybody else is an idiot, nothing's been confirmed yet, we haven't pre-ordered, nobody's that stupid, but this delay does NOT prove anything, for all we know they may been struggling with the new firmware, or maybe they ran up into some issues, patience is a virtue.
