See I whole heartedly agree with you.....Nintendo has never bricked anything and the Korean Wii's were a specific bug issue that I believe there was a work around. Look what is the sense in bricking someone for modding....now you have deystroyed their hardware, deystroyed their good will twoard your company, and deystroyed the opertunity to sell them software. I have modded about everything I have every ownded and never been bricked. The closest thing was M$ banning DVD modded xboxes but even this was more related to them detecting a bad/improper rip/burn than the actual mod itself. The only thing they want to do is prevent you from running 'backups' so that you have to buy games. Even those of us that mod and sometimes run 'backups' still tend to be regular consumers. I have more than 25 Wii games and similiar numbers of ps3 and x360 games. So 'pirate' and 'consumer' are not mutualy exclusive terms. I respect the rights of the manufactures to battle piracy and secure their systems but also respect the hackers/modders that open the things up for 'extra' funcionality. The PSP was worthless without CFW....slow load times, bad battery life, noisy UMD. Once it got CFW it was twice the machine. $ony recognzined this and put out the PSP GO which was a digital only, smaller, better batery life system. Someitmes modding drives manufactures to improve their designs or features. Xbox had the awesome XBMC and then when x360 came out it had better media playing/streaming and xvid/divx support.
