"Kill" isn't a word that is typically aimed to insult a person and is not solely meant to offend anybody. Additionally, the word doesn't really have another equivalent that can be used instead.

This is actually a little weird to explain, lol

Unless you are 4Kids.

When he posted the screenshot, this was all I could think of:

what do suppose the word "Bastard" means without referring to a dictionary definition ?

Apparently he doesn't; he should know that it originally referred to an illegitimate child, but is now used as a very derogatory insult referring to someone as being vicious or despicable. Not the nicest thing to say.

Unless you are 4Kids.

They would say something like "I will send you to your doom!" since the words "death", "kill" or "annihilate" are too strong for kids.

4Kids - sugarcoating and over-censoring anything remotely dark and "offensive" since 1992.

Either way, the word you used isn't the nicest thing to say and is very derogatory in the United States. Other words could have be substituted like "Sakurai, you turd!" or "Sakurai, Y U so mean" and draw a Rage Face?

You know, let's say I go to a country where they don't speak English, like Japan and I say a word that's offensive (of which I know plenty of...long story behind that), but I didn't know it was bad beforehand. Whether I knew about it or not, it still will offend people since it would be rather disparaging, but what I should do is learn what not to say or learn the meaning of the words before I try and ask someone what it means. Even certain third-person pronouns in Japan can really set people off, which I did a couple of times because this roommate I was living with had quite an attitude the really rubbed me the wrong way. Trust me, just because you don't the true meaning of an insult doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful ;)

A derogatory word originally used to refer to a fatherless child, i can completely see the reason nintendo took it off. It would be a shame if a little kid saw that and started to use the word, not that they should be online at a young age.

Dude...the Dutch word ('bastaard') has exactly the same meaning. Although it isn't used as often as a swear word in our language, it certainly is one. Same as 'klootzak', actually (meaning 'asshole'...and with pretty much the same context both in Dutch and English).

In any way...that's the reason your picture was removed. I can understand how it doesn't seem like much if you've learned the language by television and movies (as pretty much anyone since the introduction of the thing), but it really bears some meaning and shouldn't be used lightly.

Just don't use "shift". The last episode of Game of Thrones taught me that it's a swear word.

Anyway, I've only reported a few people, three if I remember correctly.
  1. Someone posted end-game spoilers
  2. Someone used a racial slur
  3. Someone drew a chick giving a blowjob (yes, I'm serious). It was so poorly drawn that it took me a good 30 seconds to realize what I was looking at. I would have reported it for just being a terrible drawing even if I hadn't recognized it.
