hey just had a quick question to clarify about the psp mode on vita.. So recently I was thinking of buying a second psp 3000 for 40 bucks to have as a backup hacked system in case my current one breaks down in several years and i cant get a used psp anymore..

HOWEVER I can get a used vita for 80 bucks now where I live. since I already have a psp system I can wait for the next exploit but my question is.. with the current exploits in psp mode can the Vita actually play all psp games and psone games and have home brews such as emulators?? basically I am asking can the psp mode hack act just like a hacked psp OR can it only play certain games ect.. I see ALOT of comments flying around about playing psp games ect but no solid facts about what the exploits do and do not do.

also is the vita even that much better looking than a 3000 at playing PSP and PSone games or is it a minimal improvement because honestly the vita went from full price to 80 bucks in a year and it has f&$k all good games for it. Infact the only game I would want for it are just rereleases such as persona 4 and Disgaea 3

FIRSTLY I SHOULD HAVE CLARIFIED BETTER THAT THEY WERE USED UNITS!

http://entertainmentoverload.com/

at entertainment overload in welland ontario canada.. they have awesome prices cause they arent a LAME big chain like EB games or Gamestop (which have absolutely ridiculous prices on almost everything in comparison and cant do anything about it because there are only 3 entertainment overloads and they are all in my area so eb cant compete! for example its literally as huge of a difference as:

EB Games (same company as gamestop): used vita $189.99
Entertainment overload: used vita $80 (they dont used cents on their price Tags everything is rounded off)
EB Games: Used psp 3000 $79.99
Entertainment Blowyourload: used psp 3000 $40

but ya they ALMOST ALWAYS have lower prices on ALL used games AND they will give cash or credit on trade ins as well.. AND best of all they have a 3 DAY RETURN POLICY ON VIDEO GAMES THAT YOU DONT LIKE!!!!! and if you trade in for somthing say 40$ worth they dont charge tax on the item you are trading for if you trade an equal amount. so say i traded 40$ even worth of games I could walk out with a psp 3000 without paying a cent of tax

they are the best gaming store of all time!!.. i just picked up a psp 3000 cause it didnt have a scratch on it and still came in the original box with everything included and an extra battery to top it all off!!!

as a side note im pretty sure alot of the great prices are because crack heads like to trade in for cash and will take any amount.. lmfao just j/k but probably true.. but ya u can get a psp 2000 for 20 right now if you bye 2 games with it but the 300 and the vita those are the regular prices... i will take a picture of the price tags next time im there if you dont beleave me!

I also asked my buddy who works there why they are so low and he said its because they are not selling ATALL even at the lowered price they hardly sell

3 replies and all the focus is on the cheap prices on the psp/psvita >_< dang
Let me help ya there D : the vita can play most "backups" but some games won`t load pass a certain screen or like Ys seven, they won`t load at all. Also since you don`t own a vita yet you should know that you need a PC and a PS3 to buy/transfer the exploited game for this to work. Please note that you can NOT buy it using the vita itself or a PC. This is a basic trick to by-pass a firmware update check to keep the vita in a low firmware like 2.02 for Uno or 1.81 for Gravity Crush Portable ect, ect. Just buying a vita will screw you over if they are nearly up-to-date in firmware, be mindful of that.

The vita makes the PSP (all iterations) look like a cheap plastic toy you'd get at a dollar store.
The games (yes even PSP games) all look fantastic on the Vita.

I could never go back to using a PSP.

Thank you for all your replies everyone I did end up buying the vita and it was at a very low firmware only 1.06 or something like that however I decided to updated as from what I've read from you and other websites the hacking scene is not really where I wanted to be at the moment

however on the subject of PSP games on the vita I do have this to say I think that 2-D games like disgaea or gungnir other games like that do look great on the vita however. It is my opinion that the 3-D PSP games still look better on my PSP 3000 then they do on the vita. Sure the vita has bigger screen but size isn't everything I find that the color depth is almost identical on the PSP games on my vita versus my PSP 3000 and I find that the 3-D games are much too pixelated and in some cases blurry on the vita compared to the native resolution they run onPSP.

I would just prefer to play them on my custom firmware PSP 3000 as they still look fantastic on that system. The only 3-D games I could see buying on the Vita would be say metal gear peace walker for the added thumb stick

However PS/1 games look far superior on the vita than they do on the PSP

At any rate thank you all very much for your help I am happily sitting at home with a brand-new Vita with plenty of games to play and a PSP 3000 with hundreds of games yet to play

Just for reference the games I am comparing are. Final fantasy 7 and 9. On ps1. And disgaea 1, prinny can I really be a hero, gungnir ( and because I have psplus. I got tekken and soul caliber for free. I compared each of these games separately running my PSP3000 and Vita at the exact same time. I just find that the vita has the HD syndrome because it has such a nice screen and the PSP games are low resolution they don't look that good on it at least the 3-D ones don't. However because they run at native resolution on a PSP and on a smaller screen they are way sharper. And since as I said the color depth is almost identical vita vs psp it's just not desirable to have them on vita for my tastes. I am very glad I did not sell my PSP or I would've been very disappointed haha.

But this is not to say the vita isn't a great system it's obviously way better than the PSP just not at playing PSP games!

I think the best part about the vita is its strength as a machine I am hoping two or three years down the road that we will have Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast emulators and PS2 classics running on a cfw Vita. But I guess only time will tell
