Hey,
So the situation is that I just got a 3DS XL with pre-installed Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, so there's no game card. I also got a r4i gold card and I'm not really aware of what these kernal and firmware changes affect so I though about asking here, before I install it, since I found no answers to my questions from Google.
1. If I update my kernel/firmware, does it affect my pre-installed game or can I continue playing it with the saves I have?
2. If I end up ruining some update and I need to reset the whole device, does it also forget my eShop account? I could still get the MH3U game back from there but not the saves.
3. After I have installed/updated the kernel/firmware, can I normally play legit 3DS games (with cards) with the custom firmware installed?
4. Is it possible to change back to the retail kernel/firmware anyhow?
5. Is it possible that 3DS games automatically update my firmware even if I don't have WLAN enabled?
These questions might sure sound stupid but I have no previous experience of r4i cards and found no info about these.
