A.N.N.E. has been taken to Planet Gomi. In a matter of minutes she will be dismantled and disposed of. Can you make it in time to save her?

Set on Planet Gomi, A.N.N.E. is a Metroidvania-style platformer with a unique focus on open exploration. So many places to go! So many things to see!

High level enemies are blocking your path, are you skilled enough to take them on now, or will you venture down a less risky path and come back later?

Looks good. Depending on how much they make, it could be on the Ouya, PSN/Psv and Wii u.
Strange that it isn't on the 3ds, but that might be because they would already have some much on their hands.

Yet another nostalgia platformer, like I call 8-bit throwback graphics platformers (for 8-bit rpg I say nostalgia rpg, pretty straightforward don't you think??). 8-bit style games are flooding the market and I'm getting sick of it, not saying this one looks bad, but a little of originality doesn't hurt, what's wrong with 16-bit graphics and music? the snes was the console that perfected and gave those 2 genres, platformers and rpgs epic levels of fun, so why don't they make a game to make tribute to the snes??

All that said, the game looks pretty good, but I'll be waiting a 16-bit tribute game.

This IS a "16-bit" tribute game. Check the Kickstarter page.

It's not actually 8-bit OR 16-bit though. 8-bit and 16-bit don't refer directly to the graphics, though it plays a part in what a system can handle. It's faux-retro, and people need to start using the proper terminology.

I watched the trailer again, but this time in fullscreen and you're right with the no 8-bit part, but isn't 16-bit either; it is a blend like cave story where the graphics are full colored but pixelated and the music definitely is 8-bit style.
I know the bits are not what determine graphics and all that, but serves as reference for people that don't know and is more understandable, you can clearly see the difference between super mario bros and super mario world, enhanced graphics and better music, and metroid to super metroid, that was a BIG jump, so if isn't correct say a game is X-bit graphics, is a point of reference to better understand.

A 16-bit tribute game should have graphics and music as good as super castlevania IV or super metroid.

This is the greatest game in the world.

This is a tribute.

I definitely agree that the indie market is flooded with retro stuff, but I don't mind it honestly. I mean, I'm a bit biased, considering I'm making a faux-retro platformer myself (Although it's more focused on adventure/survival elements), but I can see why people might be getting sick of it.

Nostalgia is a big factor in it, of course. We all want to recreate something from our childhoods, or at least something close to it. It's also a lot easier to make a great looking faux-retro game than a game with remotely decent 3D visuals.

You know what I want to see, someone make a Doom styled FPS, fuck all this 8-bit shit. I want to see hand-drawn animations and art for a FPS that's flat out over the top and 3edgy5life. We weren't ALL raised on NES and Sega.

Err Serious Sam?

what's wrong with 16-bit graphics and music?

Did you miss the GBA and to a slightly lesser extent DS? Even Disney almost considered getting back on form for a few hot moments there.

In fact I have 4 gba (classic, sp frontlit and 2 micro) and a dsi, played megaman zero saga, metroids, marios, golden sun trilogy, monster tale, megaman zx and many others. The point is that indy games are almost always 8-bit tributes when they could perfectly do sprites and music resembling snes/gba/2d ds, and I want to play something new with the interesting mechanics indy developers do, or at least play something new at all with colorful 2d graphics and no remakes and ports.

Also I just want to add that I'm buying ANNE if comes out on vita, sadly I can't fund the kickstarter so I'll be looking for other means of pay if I can. Also I will be looking forward to dragons crown on vita and muramasa reborn; that game has the best 2d graphics.

Looks great! Reminds me a bit of cave story, as far as aesthetics go, and that's a good thing. A bit surprised there's no word about a possible 3DS release, though... that sounds to me like it would be loads more of a viable platform than either Ouya or PSVita. But then again, maybe spec-requirements or 3DS dev costs are just higher than I think...

Hasn't the momentum died down? Maybe I'm in a bit of a rush to see them get the goal. :P
I wouldn't know. I never even checked the actual kickstarter page until you mentioned it just before.

That said, this is a more hefty goal than most kickstarters. Of course there's the initial rush, then it dies down. But often, hopefully in this case, it climbs at a steady enough pace to make the goal.
