Gaming Wii remakes on 3DS?

I'm sure many Wii titles could be ported but I'd rather have new games myself. Buy a Wii if you want those games, you can get a cheap one for under £50 now.
This. In fact my eldest lad has recently picked up a Wii for his bedroom for £30 (£9 for a 16Gb SD, £12 for a classic controller, 5 minutes begging to his dad and he's got one hell of a gaming setup there for just over £50!)

i do have a Wii for 5 years now, but i always liked portable consoles. I recently bought 3DS (add me if you want and PM me if you did so i can ad U) and i was astonished how great it was that you can bring console experience wherever.. i played monster hunter 3 and than i saw DKK 3D and wondering, will Nintendo release some other remakes with touch of something new (like they did with Super Mario 64 on DS)

By the way, even if i have hacked 3DS that can play 3DS roms and Nintendo release Metroid other M 3DS version, i would buy it without even thinking :) p.s. i'm a huge Metroid fan xD :3

It's nearly impossible to try to make GC ports on a 3DS since the 3DS can't make the graphical quality of a Gamecube. They can make GC ports on the WiiU like with Windwaker.
3DS is capable of producing better graphics than the gamecube, if you have any doubt at all just compare gamecube's Resident Evil 4 with 3DS's Resident Evil Revelations. As developers get more experience with the 3DS I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3DS graphics get better than Wii's and, who knows, even getting close to PS360 graphics.

Now that you mentioned...
Plus, 3DS recording of the video was bad, take that in consideration also...

Watch in HD (1080p)

If donkey kong country returns can be remade/ported to the 3ds.
games like:final fantasy crystal chronicles, pokemon battle revolution, fire emblem, can be ported perfectly fine.

I would nearly kill for a port of Wave Race: Blue Storm with full stereo 3D. (Yea, not a Wii game, but whatever.)

(Better yet, a new one, but I'm not (too) greedy.)

Again, 3DS recording is somewhat bad.

If only 3DS had HD screen... :(
The main problem is that one can't record videos of 3DS games directly, they often have to use a camera to film the 3DS screen. There's a device that can stream the 3DS video to a computer but it's very expensive and the 3DS need to be modified to use that device

Porting is loads different. Porting basically means that you're completely reworking the game (sometimes from scratch, as a remake) to work on the system in question. Emulating just means you're playing a ROM from the original system with an emulator, and of course, no way the 3DS is powerful enough to emulate the GameCube. the 3DS would have to be multiple times more powerful than the GameCube (4 to 6 times, depending on who you ask) to properly emulate it.

Porting =/= Remaking

I admit it's quite confusing, especially when there are a mix of then, like Zelda OOT 3D, Starfox 64 etc

Porting means getting the original source code of the game and changng it to adapt the new device's needs.
Remaking means make the game from ground-zero, so you won't use the original source code, probably there will be new textures, new 3D models, and maybe enchacements.

Zelda OOT 3D uses the original source-code, but almost every face has been remodeled, there are many retextures, so it's kind a mix.
One could say it's a remake, other could say it's an enchanced port, but I think it doesn't make much difference.

So in other words, exactly what he said...

Nope

Porting from a scratch is a remake? This does not make any sense.

That's what I'd call a definition of a remake, not a port.

Porting means getting the original source code of the game and changng it to adapt the new device's needs.

Understand now?

Porting would be like the 3D Classics NES games. Re-worked with added features that can take advantage of the hardware.

Emulating would be simply like the Ambassador games or the 3DS Virtual console. The games run, and have save states, but really nothing is changed. (No added 3D, or textures)

Just paraphrasing what was already said.

Truthfully, we're probably at least one generation out from having Gamecube games on a handheld. Not because it can't be done on current hardware (It possibly could), but because that isn't where the focus is. There aren't even SNES games on the 3DS officially, why would N64 games be released before them? Far more likely to see Gamecube games released digitally for the Wii U. I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen, really surprised.

I want some SNES on the 3DS. I don't see it happening due to Nintendo's weird logic on handhelds, but who knows. I also want more Game Gear and maybe some Neo Geo Pocket games on the 3DS.
