Hackers capable of destroying Sim Cities

Apparently Hackers have manipulated the DRM to be allowed to go to and control other users cities and have been known to destroy them. Another interesting timbit is EA is now attempting to reduce the calls customer service gets by partially censoring the phone number on forums making one of the numbers an "*".

What are your thoughts? Fact or fiction? Do you think PR will be able to handle these claims if true and made public? will this be the final push needed to get an offline mode or will EA simply say this is what we wanted?

As for the destroying cities stuff.
Well... since hackers are already reverse engineering the entire game, it was expected.

I'm going to purchase SimCity, get on a server, learn the ropes, construct a city, name it Detroit, and get it destroyed. Then I'll be able to call it "Detroit Rocked City".

That's a lot of effort for only a little payoff, but life's all about the tiny victories.

The hackers should spend their effort on hacking into EA staff's personal PCs, installing a trojan that will disable the computer from being used every time it goes offline. Give them some of their own medicine. That would be fun

This same thing was posted on reddit a day or so ago, and it was shown that the title was misleading and meant to warmonger, rather than actually explain what the exploit (or whatever it is) was.

Don't remember much, as I didn't buy the game or care about it. It was the basic /r/gaming for reference, and probably is still high up on /r/simcity

Anyway, EA's public relations team is literally fucked. And I thought the Rayman Legends thing was a complete disaster, at least that was just a delay. This is just completely screwed all to hell. EA continues to shoot themselves in the feet and they persist to bite the hands that feed them with the fanbase right now.

Oh how the mighty have fallen though. EA, I remember when you used to be good. I think tomorrow I will pull out my Sega Genesis and play the original NHL hockey game
