Deus Ex: Human Revolution brought back the beloved cyberpunk franchise after years of absence. It was generally well received, but of course had its kinks. However, if rumors are true, an augmented version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution may be coming two years after its initial release, and possibly to the Wii U as well.

The Australian Ratings Board recently gave a rating to a version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution categorized as "modified". Whether this means a completely new version of the game (possibly cutting the ill-received boss battles) or simply a "Game of the Year" Edition of sorts with DLC is unknown. No platforms were mentioned, but more on the possibility of a Wii U version below.

The Wii U rumor comes from Australian studio Straight Right, who previously confirmed that they were porting a "big title" from Square Enix to the Wii U. They did the recent port of Mass Effect 3 to the Wii U, for the record. While this simply could be a coincidence, it does seem to fit oddly into place.

Hmm I can not recall ever playing a FPS that got a "1.5" version.

I just feel Deus Ex: HR is a bit of a special case since the game would be tons better if they just omitted or redesigned the boss battles. Like the flaw of the game is very specific and can be changed easily. The core of the game is solid though.

Yeah the boss battles sucked if you were not playing as an action type (and given the game actively rewards you for the stealthy approach.....). Worse is the original deus ex had some interesting ways around what passed for them.

I had half forgotten about that though at this point it was two years on and the early 2000s were still "new PC actually means something" territory so by then just about any PC could play the original. Trouble is I would also have to consider every other PC to console or console to PC port and the PS2 era was an interesting time for that; that does not sit quite in line with the older games that did get a proper version a year and a half or so after the initial release (around here they usually got the subtitle gold, enhanced edition or sometimes collector's edition- the witcher, heroes of might and magic 2 and dungeon lords being the main three examples that pop into my head here).

Modified? I think you mean...

Man, that video never gets old.

Anyway, this would fit in with that "Human Defiance" title that Square Enix trademarked. I really enjoyed HR, warts and all, but an improved version would definitely by up my alley.

So uh...yeah >>;

Anyways, I hope they put out some kind of update or DLC thing for the other versions as well, I was going to replay the game this week, but if something like this is happening I am gonna postpone it >3>~

Deus Ex would be at home on the Wii U if they just get the controls just right. I can see that!

I just wish they would bring back the original two before redoing the prequel.

How is the prequel anyhow in comparison to the original? Is it as fun, does the story fit?

I am actually interested in this. I borrowed deus ex from a friend on 360, and loved it. So a chance to play it again, with more or better stuff just seems awesome. :)

I enjoyed DE:HR, it was one of the more successful modern versions of an older title. Good interesting storyline with nice depth, importance on what you say throughout the game, very open ended and you played in a way that suited you. There were some miss steps like the boss fights which not only suddenly made you feel like you were playing a totally different game but overall it could have gone so wrong...see EA's recent Syndicate which tried to copy this and failed miserably.

I hoped that more modern games were like this one, actually Square Enix has done very well with its Western studios since they took over.

I'm actually itching to play this game again, a rarity for a none indie/Nintendo game nowadays. I'm open to whatever this is even if it's just an extended edition simply because more gamers should experience this game.

I seriously hope they're gonna give me an HUGE discount, since I'm not buying the same game AGAIN.

(and I haven't even ever started playing it yet. Damn you Steam)
