I'm going to buy it just to support the fact that we like games like this getting done on systems we have.

I've already completed it three times on PC, so it won't have any new gameplay value for me.

I bought it a week or two ago, played it for a few minutes taking a break from Cave Story, got stuck at a spot and went back to Cave Story.

Played a minute or two of Ikachan here and there over the next few days.

Beat Cave Story, and before I fell asleep last night I pulled my 3DS out and decided to play Ikachan for a half hour.

I had no intention of beating it in that amount of time nor any idea that it would be possible.

NES and GB games are expensive, but you can play those online for free. Legally. If you buy them and complain fuck off.

And the 3DSWare (And even DSiWare) games vary in quality and quantity. Is there shovelware? Yes. Are many games fairly priced? Yes. EscapeVektor offers an entire episodic package that would've cost $20 on Wii for $10. That's the best example of value since it's actually set in fair pricing regardless of argument. But several games offer enough content for their money (X-Scape, a DSiWare game, cost $8 and lasted longer then most DS games of the same type such as Dementium and Moon)

I buy quite a lot of eShop games... Not all of them are overpriced..

• Dillon's Rolling Western
• Liberation Maiden

Crimson Shroud is quite a good RPG, it has an interesting story and good OST, also has a dark theme and dices, which I enjoy quite a bit... The story is also somewhat lengthy, it'll give you more than 24 hours of playtime. It costs around 6€ or 8€, can't recall atm, but it's a really good price for what it is.
The Denpa Men is a silly rpg, it's quite fun albeit silly, you also invest quite a lot of time on it... It costs 8€
Gunman Clive is kinda like a simplified Megaman game, it's quite tricky and challenging, also quite fun. It costs only 2€.
Dillon's Rolling Western, well, it's kinda Tower Defence, albeit with some differences, mainly in that it's 3D and you run around the desert while fighting as well.
Liberation Maiden is a shooter, it has a really nice anime style, and personally, while I'm not a fan of these types of shooters, I quite enjoyed the game... It costs 8€ or such.
These are some of the games I enjoy that I purchased, there are many other games for 2€ that are really good as well, seeing as I spend 6€ when I go to McDonalds, I don't see how those games are over-priced, they last much longer than the burger. =3


And this is without mentioning the fact that most games are directly converted from dollars to euros, when 8$ is only 6€... Point is, they're even cheaper over there..

No, there's a lot more, Zen Pinball, Marvel Pinball, Crystal Monsters, Picdun, etc.. A lot of them are DSi tittles, hence why I didn't mention many others.

Although I realise you didn't specifically mention abandonware, that seems to be what you're driving at and it is a term made up in an attempt to justify piracy of old games that are still covered by copyright law. The first NES games will become legally playable without purchase of a license in your country in 2060. Even then, some of them may have their copyrights extended depending on the circumstances. Stop posting "the same bullcrap people always post".

For shitty sports games, maybe. Anything quality is usually more. And if you want a box and instructions, you're generally looking at 5-10.

Legend of Zelda, at least in my area, with a working battery sells around 20. Cart only.

I wouldn't even say Liberation Maiden offers enough bang for your buck, but many games he didn't list offer lots of content for the price.

-Art of Balance: Touch features at least 8 hours of content for $7, alongside achievements and an Endless mode.
-EscapeVektor I mentioned earlier, you'll clock in A LOT of time with that game.
-Outdoors Unleashed: Africa 3D features a decent length campaign for a rail shooter (about 3-4 hours) along with achievements for $4, if you can get past the obvious low-budget origins
-Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword has a fairly brief campaign (2-4 hours) but then a harder difficulty along with plenty of extras.
-Mutant Mudds offers a retail-sized campaign with the new crappy DLC levels. If you don't want to play that garbage it's about 6-8 hours although it's fairly generic.

There are some games that may be iffy for the price (Mighty Switch Force ranks as one of my favorites but is really short), but the only games that scream "What the fuck is this pricing!?" without looking like total garbage would be the lazy Nicalis ports, and that's only because they are lazy ports (had they been brand new games each one would be a steal, especially Cave Story)

No, that's not a grey area. In fact, that makes it a lot more illegal since it's unlicensed distribution of the ROM. The ROM itself must be downloaded onto the client machine by the Java-based emulator in order to be played. Just because they say it's legal on their site doesn't make it so, neither does them flying under the radar or getting away with it.

Got a 3DS points card in a trade the other day. Since I already had most of what I had wanted from the eShop as of late, I bought Ikachan.

I liked the 10 minutes or so I played it. If I get the chance to play more in the near future, I'll have more thoughts on it. Too many other games to play right now, and my work time has been absorbed by a client far too awake for my liking.
