Maybe I don't understand how biological classification works but I don't think they can actually be related to armadillos if they are crustaceans because I don't think armadillos are crustaceans. They're probably just named similar because they look similar.

Wut, how can this be, the armadillo is a mammal (vertebrate), while the Armadillidiidae is a crustacean (invertebrate). That's pretty much as related as a human to a mosquito can be.

armadillo are closer to sloths and anteaters and as you pointed out, the Armadillidiidae is closer to shirmps and more closely by anything from the isopod order.
