Homebrew Poll: How many of you use emulators?

Do you emulate games on your DS?

Yeah, i can understand that. But on the other hand you can expand the use of your DS.
I used to, though. I used to a lot, especially before I got a smart phone, which I don't use for emulation much these days but I do game quite a bit on it, negating the need to bring my DS (though I bring it now for streetpass tags).

But currently, no, and I most likely won't.

I only ever emulated SNES with DSTWO but it wasn't that good. I use either my phone or my PSP since it does a better job at emulating games and you can actually change settings in the PSP emulators, I wish I can do that on my DS SNES emulator.

Cool :D

Lameboy. Just lameboy. I believe handheld games should be played on a handheld and console games on a TV. though lack of good GBA emulation lends me to use VBA GX.

Tap the screen?

nesDS - Love it to death, but don't use it much
SnemulDS - Never wanna touch it, but it has SMW
Lameboy - Can be frustrating, maybe I'll try the new emu
gbaemu4nds - All-time favorite. Emulates Yugioh DDD better than the PC VBA!

And yet we've seen many home console games ported to handhelds or even the opposite case sometimes.

Nowadays I use the VC for playing NES/GBC in my 3DS, but I prefer using a PC for emulation because it works so much better (I like playing emulators fullspeed, with no frameskip and with as little emulation glitches as possible)

Well, the EZ-Flash 3in1 emulates the real hardware, making the DS think a original gba cartridge is there, running ROMs as so.
Yeah, not software emulation, you could say ...but emulation indeed :teach:
That's like saying a Slot-1 cartridge emulates the DS because it "emulates" a DS cartridge.

Kind of, but not really. Emulation is when you have no, or partial, hardware support and are running code for a CPU that's not in the device at all. Using the ARM7 processor in a DS Lite to run GBA games is not emulation. Using the ARM9 processor in a DSi (which has no GBA slot!) to run GBA games is emulation if the code is different enough. Using the DS to emulate a SNES is definitely emulation. It's this definition that this thread is using.

NesDS and NeoDS are amazing.
NDSGBA is pretty good but I don't use it as much anymore.
CATSFC has gotten really good but I still use SnemuLDS for SF2: Hyper Fighting.
I'd use CPS2 on DSTWO more (it's insanely smooth with sound) but the arcade button mappings are all wrong.

Such as? (*points to sig*)
Last time I used NDSSNES or whatever its called the only thing I remember being able to do with it save state, frameskipping and audio frequency change apart from that nothing, not to mention that the picture quality was pretty poor and there was no way to fix that.

I don't know if your definition of emulation is entirely correct ...Seems a bit restricted to me. (Hardware emulation is not a myth :p)
But is a valid point for sure.

Yes but the port is made to run on a handheld, with its resolution. Theres a big differance between GB/GBA/GBC vs the consoles of there times even if a handheld uses 640x480 res.
sprites are bigger, text is larger, its just better on a handheld (super GB enhancments aside). It's my wierd little philosophy but not strictly adheared to. Gba on TV? Sure, why not. Snes on psp? good memories.

Also, PC rockes the Emu world! epsxe @ 768p! Even early PS2 GFX is shitting its pants! :)
