Hacking help with akard 2

I am a total newb to this stuff, bought this card 4 years ago with my kids ds. My daughter just bought a 3d xl and version 4.3. When I looked at the card info it says 4.3 is blocked, but 4.5 is good. Does this mean for me to update the firmware on the 3d xl and the card will then work? and do I keep the card in the machine when I am doing a firmware update? also if i update this firmware and use my card will it stop working in their dsi and dsi xl.

Sorry I couldnt find the answer in the forums or at least I missed it.

If you mean the 2i (the 2 and 2.1 will not work on any DSi or 3DS, period), then you'll need to update it on an original DS or a DS lite, because you need to run the update on a cart that currently starts the AK2i (and until it's updated, the 3DS won't start it).

The Ak2i's not up there because it hasn't been updated and the Acekard team never made another cart. "Acd3DS" is a clone by different people, you don't want it.

thanks Rydian, I will put it in my other daughters dsi lite. Now do I just put in the card in the back and hit update in the settings ?. do I take the game off and hit update then reload games etc. Is there a tuitorial for this, I looked and didnt see it.

Either the update is a separate file you run (as if it was a game ROM), or there's an update function in the software.

It is a separate file to run, like a rom.

ok so I downloaded a verion from the acekard site from Dec/12 and it says for 3ds. I am planning on saving all my games to a file on computer. deleting all files from the card, then applying new files I downloaded then reapply games. Does this sound ok ? Again I am lucky i can turn on a computer I am so bad with them.

Backing up the games is pointless. The AK2i update will not delete your games.

its an acekard 2 compatble with dsi. My daughter also has a dsi , which she said has started freezing. If I upgrade the card to play in the 3d xl , will it only work in that machine or will it still work in the DSI, as I sometimes play the games if I am bored

It will still continue to work in the DSi.
