With the new evasi0n jailbreak. This is my first time jailbreaking an ios device, and I want to know if it is worth it, ad if it wold not backfire, like bricking my ipad, or not letting me access the appstore, compared to how i cannot access the psn store with my ps vita because of CEF.

There's no real reason I can think of not to jailbreak it. If there's something you would like to do with a jailbreak, then do it. If there's nothing you can see getting out a jailbreak, then it doesn't matter.

it is considered illegal by the DMCA ruling 3 months ago also smartphones and game consoles fall into the illegal catagory but i doubt the FBI will arrest you it would be bad PR on apples part if mass arrest occur

It is legal in the United States to jailbreak your iPhone. The ruling you might be thinking of refers only to carrier unlocks on phones purchased in 2013.

Basically, pros:
-Can install all sort of stuff, tweaks like more icons on the bottom pin bar thingamajig, custom themes, emulators, special programs. You can even pirate apps if you really want to.
cons:
-none whatsoever

I am just interest in emulators which are legal but roms are illegal, so what is the point. So for now, hacking an iPad is illegal, so I would wait until congress finds a dictionary and define the word tablet. This might be off topic but is hacking the ps vita with the kernel exploit illegal too?

If you want to get emulators then by all means go for. That is the soul purpose of my jailbreaking. It takes about 5 minutes with A fresh restore. And if you ever want to undo or use your warranty then you can easily restore it.

Who the fuck cares if you jailbreak your device and play 15 year old games?

Nobody's going to arrest you, and nobody's losing money. The nice thing about bullshit computer laws is that they aren't enforced.

There are no tangible drawbacks.
iDevices effectively cannot be bricked without hardware modification. They can always be restored, even if they somehow end up without firmware. In the restore process, all traces of a previous jailbreak are wiped clean.

All traces minus the case when traces of jailbreaks are maintained in backups.

Jail breaking voids warranty, when detected. Methods to remove all traces do exist, so it's nearly moot.

Otherwise, it enables additional functionality, themes, etc, to the iDevice so jail breaking only makes sense even if you don't really use it much. Even just the tweak to activate the iPhone flashlight has been very useful today whilst heavily drunk in a friend's house.

Like yesterday I installed like three things from Cydia and tried to uninstall them and my phone crashed and got stuck on apple logo. That was my fault because I did something incorrectly. A simple restore wiped my jailbreak clean and my iphone is fine. Infact I'm typing this on it right now.

finally decided to jailbreak my Ipad 4 for emulators, but for many of them like gpsphone and others, I have to pay(i thought emus were free) and /or says they are incompatible with the device.
