Hacking Youtube playback blocked in internet browser

It seems that the video playback by the internet browser has been blocked. Is it intentional? Could someone try to load the youtube website through a proxy hiding the browser user-agent to confirm this? If I'm right, the video should be playing fine if the playback is blocked by filtering wii u s browser user-agent. So far the embed player is still working fine, so just copy / paste the embed url from the share tab, it should work just fine.

I'm not sure if this is at all related but I noticed that in the YouTube CHANNEL (at least on the Wii) whenever I try to see many game related videos (Just Dance videos in particular ) they're "unavailable" and it just passed me right on to the next one. Those same ones work fine from my computer. (the browser for the original Wii is just too lame to work with YouTube anyhow.)

Also you can't access nintendo.co.jp from the internet browser it blocks it.

You know that you can watch the video of youtube without the youtube app of the Wii U ? just use the browser and go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and you will be able to read every video of youtube

without using the dedicated youtube app of the Wii U, no sense to use this app, it's too slow and not ready for use, so let's use html5 + browser of the Wii U that all.

Edit : My bad sorry i was thinking that you are talking about the dedicated app... personnaly i have no problem to load the video from the link above

Edit2 : i just did some html5 testing no change, Dailymotion works, Vimeo works, etc... so probably a bug from Youtube, also nintendo.co.jp works too

Of coure i tried, i even tried by clearing the cookies, the story is the same for me as anyone else using the web browser, a quick look into miiverse confirms the issue for a large number of users. Maybe youtube didn't updated the interface in your country but as far as i know, about 90% of users is unable to watch a youtube video anymore by using wii u browser... Moreover the youtube app cant redirect the video feedback to the tablet and it was pretty sweet to chill out by listening a tune while browsing the web in another tab. That is impossible to achieve with youtube app...

Not sure if it was intentional, i think is maybe a bug of the html5 process, Sony recently did a huge update for the youtube support on the PS Vita so maybe Nintendo need to do the same or Youtube need to fix some algo.
I did some testing, i don't see any problem from the side of nintendo anyway (every html5 page works well), about Nintendo.co.jp you should try again, it works too.

Anyway i never use the dedicated app youtube of the Wii U, too slow, not ready, need to be improved... so i prefer to use the browser... well for while, maybe this are going to back to normal in few hours.

Videos that are "unavailable" require ads to be displayed in order to play, and not all things will play youtube ads properly.

These things are not true.
I use youtube every day in the Wii U browser all video's play without problems.
the youtube app also works. but not my 1st choice. the browser plays the video's faster, easier. work to be done there.

I've tried the methid suggested in one of the early replies, and can confirm that clicking on the 'share' button, then pasting the Embed link into the address bar makes the videos play fine. Hopefully this is just a bug that will be patched soon..

Google did update their YT site recently, and that might have caused a bug (or intentional change?) to prevent the Wii U browser from playing videos.

Well, it's not like there was an update that changed the web browser, it worked fine until recently (I'm pretty sure it was Youtube's new design that did it). Hopefully either Nintendo or Google will fix it.

This is the reason why I wanted the Wii U , for HTML - Full HD youtube video playback (I don't have a smart tv)
it really sucks. and the youtube app from nintendo is not very friendly in use.

Nintendo don't make the Youtube application, google do. They've also known about it for two days at least now as the Youtube Miiverse community has been going nuts at them over it.
