Oh good. You're not asking for too much. Just dirt cheap, loaded with options, and absolutely impervious to any update.
It certainly is great that we're all wish-granting genies capable of seeing years into the future, here.
While we're at it can we get you a wealthy large-breasted redhead nymphomaniac without any emotional baggage, standards, or taboos?

I get so disgusted at threads like this.

No doubt, they wanna pay as little as possible and get all the best stuff so they can play their library of games that they're getting for free.

R4i Gold: Needs Hardware revisions, fast software updates, GB/C, DS, NES, Genesis playable. Cheap.

Supercard dstwo: Only software revisions, everything from r4i gold compatibility, AND gba and SNES. Expensive. Fast software patches.

DSTWO has flawless AP (so no waiting for rom patches), in game guides, slow motion, great GBA emulation, fast 3DS updates, and several nice UI's to choose from. It drains battery in standby mode though, and the SNES emulator has lag on every single game.

R4i Gold's cheaper, has wood R4, and drains battery a bit slower than the DSTWO.

Bro you gotta cool it with the posts.
And there is NO flashcard that plays Super Mario RPG well, and its impossible to play Mario Paint, because you need a specific controller option.

Just keep this in mind, you get what you pay for. You want quality, it's going to cost you a bit more than the cheapo piece of crap stuff.

Also, learn how to use the edit tool

Here is what is going to happen: you'll buy the R4i which will work for a while until it can't be updated anymore and then you'll end up buying the DSTwo anyway.

I wish people like you would stop bashing the AK2i. For years, the AK2i were the "Go To" team. They had awesome, quick updates on a fantastic card for $15.00. And then they stop and now everybody feels the need to bitch? And yet nobody bitches at Nintendo because they stopped supporting the SNES. Seriously, they gave you years of access to free games. Be thankful that there were still teams out there that were still updating and didn't just plain scam you.

You buy a product that relies on manufacturer support, you expect that support but you aren't getting it and by your logic this is all good and dandy because they have had support in the past. Well, if they aren't going to support their products anymore, they should stop selling them. Also, if you paid for something that you use on a regular basis and all of a sudden it's rendered useless you would be irritated too. The only people that aren't upset about the less than stellar support that AK2i gets are people who don't use it and don't care or people who didn't use their own money to buy it.

acekard never offered much support. they were opensource from the start. the relied on the community to support their products. they NEVER ONCE said the ak2i would be updatable. most of us were taken by surprise when they released the first bootloader update.

so what are you trying to argue really?

every team has come and gone. should i get upset that there are no more m3 updates? after all i paid well over $100 for my m3 lite. what about my flash2advance? you get into this hobby knowing full well that you are using chinese made pirating hardware and that you will be lucky if you can enjoy updates for the life of the system. if you think otherwise you didn't do your research.

It's rendered useless because you updated your console when there wasn't even an update for the card out yet. Users fault, not manufacturer's. You should never update your console until you get an update for the card. They're allowed to sell their cards still because there are people who are smart enough not to update their consoles.

and really, what did you pay for your acekard? $10, $12? even if you got into it early then you paid around $30. didn't you get your $30 out of it? didn't you pirate hundreds of games that would have cost you thousands?

I know you're going to call bullshit on me like everyone on every forum does, but the only reason I bought a flashcart in the first place was so I didn't have to carry around all my games. I have the hardware sitting in my desk here to dump straight from the retail cartridge and that's what I put on my flashcarts.

But really it doesn't matter, I never bought an Acekard anyway because the team looked dodgy in the first place. I'm just speaking in defense of the people who actually used the acekard for legally obtained software.

In this case you should buy a R4i Gold. Keep in mind that they still haven't released the patch for the latest 3ds firmware. But it should work if your 3DS is 4.4.0-10 or lower.
NO!

READ BEFORE POSTING!
The R4i Gold has had to put out multiple hardware revisions in order to update, though.
I had four carts (yes, four), and NONE of them were able to handle 3DS 4.4.

OP wants something that doesn't need hardware updates, and the DSTwo is the only cart that has not yet needed one.
As you can see from the above quote, older hardware revisions of the R4i Gold can't even handle 4.4.x, let alone 4.5.x. Therefore the R4i Gold does not fit his requirement to not buy new carts.

$39.99 I can't buy it :( they need to be less like $12.00
Too bad. The ONLY cart that hasn't needed hardware updates is the DSTwo, and that's at least ~$35.

And yet nobody bitches at Nintendo because they stopped supporting the SNES.
If Nintendo had stopped supporting the SNES while not putting out any later products while new games for the SNES were still coming out that needed new SNES updates then that'd be a valid complaint.

But that doesn't match the situation at all. In the case of the SNES, the unit itself is the base and the only thing it relies on is compatibility with TVs, which never became an issue. By the time TVs came out that wouldn't hook to an SNES, the SNES was long dead.

A lack of complaint will not make the AK2i work on newer 3DS models. If the AK2i doesn't work on his hardware, then it's useless for him and he needs a replacement product that does work on it (thus this thread).
