Making this thread for information related to the Wii U running this application and applications alike.

I Myself am attempting to utilize this amazing application without prevail. I cannot find a vulnerable IOS. I have managed to dump the nand successfully. As far a I know preboot will not be useable so bootmii as well wont be. so if something messes up there is no going back. :/

The bootmii must be ran from homebrew channel and sd card must be inserted after wiimode starts otherwise it detects the bootmii folder. It seems as if any editing of the wiimode will not have direct impact on the wii u functionality in wii u mode just my assumption based on the fact the wii u shuts down all wii u funtions besides the wii u channel.

Has anyone had success with running any USB Loaders? if so post your findings here.

USBLoaders can be launched if they are not trying to load a cIOS on boot, but will have functionality disabled (no Wii game launching from USB or SD, no NAND access (Channel layout in GX for example)).
But you should be able to launch retail games from disc, allowing you to play imports, like GeckoOS does.

with AHBPROT, the loaders will have access to the NAND, but will still not launch Wii games from USB/SD as it require redirection from disc access to an external device which only cIOS have.

Crediar said that vWii doesn't allow IOS installation, so even with AHBPROT I'm not sure a wad manager will be able to install patched IOS.

This will probably brick it but I have successfully dumped my nand for the virtual Wii. My findings show it is exactly the same size as a Nand on an actual Wii. If I was to flash my Wii nand backup over this one would it be possible to insert cios then? This is a theory by all means after viewing the Nand in hex I found the coating to be basically the same except for the ending which included blank hex areas. I have yet to check the version of vWii

From what I've been able to gather, that probably wouldn't be a good idea. At least, you should back that NAND the hell up before trying it (and I wouldn't even think of trying it then, if you didn't have BootMii Boot2 on there)

You are a little behind. There has already been a NAND dump made public with keys over a week ago. Enough evidence come out of it that to show that your wii nand dump will not work on the vwii. No way around it.

Greater people are already looking into homebrew options. They are looking into homebrew only, not your piracy driven motives.

Why does everyone assume this is for piracy... I personally use gx loader for one reason only and that to make it so I don't have to get up for one and change out my discs but I also have a three year old who likes to scratch the hell out of my games lol. Also to prevent wear on my original day one drive and laser. I have to say from my stand point on things I just graduated two years ago from DeVry with a GSP degree game simulation programming, and have been working with Gameloft for 1 year phone side of things and I am not a fan of people who pirate games. It directly impacts the company as a whole. Picture it liketlikethis. If one person pirates how Many others are doing it.

In terms on the vwii I was meaning it like this. Injecting the vulnerable ios back into the vwii

When did he say anything about piracy? No need to be so paranoid about everything.

But back on topic... I know people have tried and failed to replace the Wii U's Wii Mode NAND with a regular Wii NAND, but has anyone tried replacing a regular Wii NAND with a Wii Mode NAND to see what would happen?

Heres my theory on that subject as well. System updates include vulnerabilities themselves that's how we get these loopholes and such. I have another Wii laying arfound that has a broken drive inside that I maybe able to test your vwii on Wii idea. Currently system updates are encoded. Are you guys aware of the pink fish disc? Using that maybe a key part in this since it's a Wii only usable disc. I have a physical copy of this disc. The issue I have is the ios menu is back dated to 4.1u and isn't the most updated one because of that I don't have a copy of the wiiu menu channel. Which would be needed to switch back to Wii u mode.m

The most common use for cIOS's is for piracy.

That doesn't work either.

DeadlyFoes what's your views or ideas on the pink fish disc idea?
You can't use the Pink Fish disc (aka Wii Backup Disc for those who don't know) because it requires IOS16. The vWii won't install any IOS's from a disc, plus it wouldn't work properly with the different hardware even if you could.

No, the most common use of cIOS is USB Loaders. This enables piracy, but there are plenty of people who use it for a legitimate purpose. Saying that its used mostly for piracy is like Sony's argument against VHS in the 70s that it would destroy the Home Video market because the record function enabled piracy of tapes. Did piracy happen? Sure, but it was hardly the primary use of the feature.

Most kids and teens probably say OMFG NAOW I CAN PIRATE. But the adults, and there are many many adults that use USB loaders, mostly use it for convenience. I base this on the exact same set of data you base your assertion on: gut instinct and internet forum presence.

Personally I guess I have one "shady" use for the USB loaders, to try a game out if I'm on the fence about purchasing it. Also some of my more prized games I have kept in their original wrap to preserve them. Honestly though, every game that spends over a week's time on that drive is sitting on a shelf or a box. I know most would make a claim similar to the above, but as crono141 points out adults tend to use this particular feature much differently. With a little one that's starting to really take interest in the system keeping those discs out of their hands has become much more of a priority this time around. :)

++HaTaX's statement about kids and discs.

I have USB Loader GX working thanks to all the great work of others on this forum, BUT when I try to launch from the wii menu instead of HBC (via either the full install channel or the forwarder directly in the wad folder in the all-in-one installer), I just get a black screen, and have to power cycle the system. Any ideas?

Why would anyone try to flash a vwii on a wii.
The hardware is diffrent so it will most likely not work?.
Also are the setting of the vwii not depending on the wiiu?, i dont know but its sounds just stupid to do :).

can you launch games on it? if so how did you get it working? i can only get wiiflow to work and usb loader gx to load but cannot see any games on my hard drive.

I tried to get usb loader gx running today using the v3 249 and the v3 250.
I used 3 different drives, a wd 350 gig without power supply, harddrive docking station and a usbflashcard.
I have patched the ios 56, 57, 58 using d2x-v10-beta53-alt.
The wd 350 without power supply does not work at all in wiiflow, or usb loader gx.
The other 2 drives both work in wiiflow.
In version v3 249 does not work at all, i tried setting the usb pot to 0 and 1 and i also switched the usb cable either way it won`t work.
In version v3 250 it does the same, only it can see the sd card from the wii so it boots up normaly.
But i am not going to try to a game there.

Sweet I used d2v-v10-beta52 instead of 53 and voila usb loader gx is alive :).

Can you PLEASE list the exact settings you used to get beta52 working? I've already got d2x running with d2v-v10-beta52 ready to patch, I've just never used d2x cIOS before today, so I have no idea what settings to use: ie. "Select cIOS" ok? "Select cIOS base" ok? "Select cIOS slot" ok? "Select cIOS revision" ok?

Any assistance would be MUCH appreciated, this is all I'm hanging on.

the standard installation for d2x is base 56 in slot 249, base 57 in slot 250, and base 58 in 251. make sure you select d2xv10beta52 in the installer before installng
i also had hdd issues using d2x beta53, for me using the alt versions of both gave me really slow initial load times for usb loaders
