(this chapter just made my jaw drop (in max 3D esp.), spoilers beware)

I just beat Kid Icarus: Uprising. The game is really really good. Handheld GOTY without a doubt.

+ Story is awesome
+ Music is fucking stellar
+ Visuals are great.
+ 3D is amazing
+ Dialogue is hilarious (good) and filled with puns and references to other games

o Controls have a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, they work fine. For those who whine that Sakurai didn't provide CPP support, the game relies on precision too much for it to work with analog sticks.

If you own a 3DS and you haven't played it yet, you're doing yourself a great disservice. Definitely one of the best games in the 3DS library if not the best.

And how could you hate a game that has a Tempura Wizard?

Yet there's an option to aim with with the fucking face buttons...

soulx, couldn't you have used a spoiler mark on that gif like this one?

Well... Fuck you, man! Fuck you!

The fact that the VGAs didn't nominate it for either Best Handheld or GOTY shows how irrelevant they truly are.

I want to go back to playing KI:U again, but I haven't gotten my new screen protector yet and it's taking forever to arrive, it actually got lost in transit and I must wait for them to send me another one.
And I agree, this game is a beast! I can easily put it in the top ten portable games of all time, it's that good. The soundtrack is huge too, beautifully and dynamically orchestrated with tons of style and variation.

The only two complaints I have is is the useless stand and the lack of CPP support for casuals to enjoy it, not everyone is going to play online or play at intensity level 7-9. For me however nothing beats the thumbstylus I bought with the game.

I don't find the stand useless, it's quite handy to play games like Inazuma Eleven or the Zelda games for the DS. =3

Finished the game. It's a steep lurning curve (and no I'm not talking about the controls).
Making your ideal weapon is tedious but very fun. XD I main multiplayer but go solo too for farming materials and hearts.

athena LOL!! yeah this is almost a perfect game expect for flying levels suck through. but IMO it's 2nd to TVC of my list of games.

And yet, there's a an option to aim with the face buttons. That considered, there's quite literally no possible way to argue that it was perfectly ok to exclude CPP aiming. At the very least, if time constraints were the issue (I can't imagine how), they could've ditched face button aiming and used the time to include CPP aiming instead. Just saying.

But either way, it's best played with a stylus, and the DX thumb stylus or comfort stylus are perfect for that. Still don't understand why Nintendo included the Stand (which I still have yet to even touch) as opposed to a likely much cheaper to make thumb stylus.

Answer: Nintendo have an amazing tendency to make rather gimped decisions. Also that I'm not particularly convinced precision is particularly important considering you are using a relatively small touchscreen. You need a level of competent accuracy but I'm unconvinced you need utmost precision.

Have I mentioned aiming with the face buttons is fucking horrible? And aiming with the stylus is horribly uncomfortable? The $1 I spent on my thumb stylus has transformed KI from being a meh game which hurts my hands to a very fun game where my hands feel perfectly fine.
