If they would announce this, it would be a shut up and take my whole wallet case.
My first pokemon game was emerald (even though i was a pokefan since i was 2 years old, but i wasn't allowed to have a handheld until way later), i replayed it more times than i can count, and my current save has 700 hours of gameplay.
I loved emerald and will never get sick of it.

There is a possibility that there will be RSE remakes in Gen 5. Think about it:

- Dive Ball returned, but there are no underwater pokemon. Dive Ball is now made for easier catch of aquatic pokemon instead.

- Dive returned as HM06, but you don't need anywhere in both games to complete the story (it is a compulsory HM in RSE). Why return it anyway? The undersea ruins don't really serve much justice.

- Seigaiha City (I forgot the English name) looks quite similar to Pacifidog Town in some ways. But this doesn't really mean much. The above two are better reasons.

I would really dig a RSE remake for 3DS, but it is likely that they will make it a DSi enhanced title with Gen 5 engine. They can make it the first Gen 6 title as well... Who knows?

I think making B/W 2 to DS was already wrong,
but it was necessary because most of the game was from B/W and were for DS,
making it hard to be ported with good quality for 3DS.

R/S/E remake would be done out of nothing,
so I don't see why not making this for 3DS.
Even if it's gen V, but it should be for 3DS.

I think keeping ppokemon Black and White on the DS did two things. I it bolstered the sales of the Pokemon franchise, But at the same time really hurt the 3DS sales pool, as no one had to buy new hardware to play the new games. If there was ever a game that would sell the 3DS... its pokemon.

Kinda out of topic but what I would like to see in a RSEmake is the VS Seeker. inb4 we already have Match Call (well Emerald only but that is beside the point). And not just that, it would be awesome if the VS Seeker can be used in caves and what not. I was always annoyed at the fact :\ So what about the Match Call feature then? Well, since it served to tell you that a rematch with a roster change was available, we'll keep it that way. Ie Trainer X has A, B and C which you can rebattle over and over until Match Call which switches it to say D, E and F and so on. But alas, what are the chances of Ninty hearing me out. Heck, I don't even know if other people like this.

Oh and I'd kill to bring back the Gym Leader rebattle function in HGSS. Ahh a man can dream can he not? TT^TT

Well:
- DS owners will be able to buy the game without buying a new set. Masuda wanted this because he said that the DS had a larger consumer base and more people are using the services.

- existing 3DS owners can also play the game with zero problems and have all the features the DS owners enjoy.

I'm very sure people who want to buy a 3DS often thinks about being able to play current DS and future 3DS software, rather than just pokemon alone.

While what you are saying is true, look at how many people come here and make accounts for pokemon drops alone. I have seen a multiude of people buy or upgrade hardware simply for next generation pokemon games.

Come to think of it... The main reason why I got a GBA was because of Pokemon Ruby in the first place. So I definitely have to agree with you.

I mean i can certainly agree with both sides of the coin.

But personally i think N should have leveraged at least B/W2 for the 3DS for a hardware push. Oh well.

The original players of BW were on the DS. BW2 was designed to be the sequel to BW. If they made it on the 3DS, it's likely going to piss some BW players who cannot afford a 3DS.

Basically, it's smart of them to use the DSi for Gen V, as the 3DS will go on for a couple of years for sure, while every Pokémon Generation to date (except for Gen 1 and 2) has been a Generation for 4 years (Gen 1 and 2 were 3 years) in Japan:

1996 - 1999: Gen 1 - GB.
1999 - 2002: Gen 2 - GBC (GB compatible).
2002 - 2006: Gen 3 - GBA.
2006 - 2010: Gen 4 - DS.
2010 - 2014: Gen 5 - DSi (DS compatible).

I'm pretty much sure, that the 3DS will continue its life for longer than 2014, which'll make Game Freak have to put 2 Generations on the 3DS.

Am I the only one who thinks that all the "signs" like that mean absolutely nothing?

You can't play Gen 2 on a GB right?

You can play Gen 5 on both DS and DSi/3DS, just that the DS will lack some features. I'm sure Gen 2 isn't like that.

But yes, it's smart of them to have the games on DSi. Both DS and DSi/3DS owners can still play them.

Gen2 had SGB and GB support. It was just rarely mentioned, since by the time they came to the US, the GBC had been out for two years already and was an upgrade everybody wanted (unlike DS-DSi).
Fun fact: the Korean versions didn't have GB/SGB support.

Indeed, I've always had a GBC to play Gen 2 on, but friends only had a GBP (a smaller GB).
At one point, one of them wanted to try out Pokémon Gold, whoops! I've forgot to take my GBC with me, but I had the Cartridge.
He has put my Gold Cartridge into his GBP, and it worked (in Black/White, but it still worked).

Probably a lack of space considering the font.

I do wonder why the korean font seems to be so heavy on... everything.

Indeed it was because of the font being so "space-hungry" that it required resources only available on the GBC.
