Facebook Passes 1 Billion Users

So, Facebook. Some people love it, some people hate it, but a whole lot of people use it.

That's not just conjecture; they have the numbers to back it up. And they've recently hit a pretty big milestone.

One billion people - a seventh of the world's total population - are now using Facebook every month.

The milestone was marked by hoodie-loving founder Mark Zuckerberg on his own Facebook profile.

"This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month," he wrote. "If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.

"Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life. I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too."

Despite the website's recent struggles with the stock market (evidently, Wall Street did not "like" their IPO, and they sure as hell weren't keen to "share" it), these numbers go to show that it is still powerful and, more importantly, relevant.

Their accounts got deleted by their parents for a different reason! I'm guessing they're safe. But, this so called "Beiber Justin" guy may be onto 2 girls I know. I'm gonna report that guy and anyone else like that!

I've noticed a huge spike in Japanese users lately. When I lived in Japan, they were all using mixi. But I left mixi a few years ago and all of a sudden just within the past 3 months I've been getting tons of Facebook friend requests from former students, co-workers and friends in Japan

Honestly, the only reason why I have facebook is to post pictures of my life to friends that I can't see in person, check out my hot friends, and post stupid posts to make everybodys day a little bit better.
