Don't forget to check the CRCs.

Clean Black 2 (J) CRC: A2517C73
Patched Black 2 (J) CRC: (someone please provide this, I'm too busy to find out myself)
Clean White 2 (J) CRC: 39BC80B8
Patched White 2 (J) CRC: (someone please provide this, I'm too busy to find out myself)

Don't know how to check the CRC? Just about every ROM is packaged in a RAR file. Use WinRAR or 7-Zip to open it, then look for the following info:
Pu45m.png

If the CRC (CRC32) is the same as any of the ones in the list above, then you have the Japanese release.

If the date when it was last modified was any time before this week, then it's the Japanese release. Also, if you find any YouTube videos claiming to have the ROM, look at the date the video was uploaded. Unless it was uploaded yesterday, it's probably not the (U) release.

Some people don't think of these simple things. They can save you a lot of downloading and testing.

VERIFY YOUR DOWNLOADS before you create a false alarm.

People can modify the CRC32 you know. It's not hard.

Thanks much.
Printed and sitting next to my desk. Might setup a script to do a test for me...

Only the more sophisticated trolls would think to do that. And most of the time someone claims to have the actual ROM, it's just a legit clean (J) ROM or an English-patched (J) ROM anyway. I still stand by my statement that checking the CRC will prevent a lot of false alarms.

Well, I'm outa here by now, and return until wed, maybe we have something then. Thanks Pong for the useful info, and to Densetsu for the CRC tip :).

Densetsu or anyone that can answer this, I have a question..how easy is it to edit the game serial?

Would viewing the game serial with nds top system be a viable way of verifying whether the rom you get is legitimate? I already know the game serial for the japanese games.

I honestly have no idea. I have no interest in Pokemon so I won't be trying to download and verify anything. However, I can say that even a little common sense would go a long way.

Hey, could you put a countdown so we can eagerly wait and watch the countdown?
Countdown for what? Until the ROM is released? No one knows when that will happen. I can't exactly tell you how many days/hours until the ROM is out. I'm a ninja, not a psychic.

No, I mean the game not the rom

If the countdown will be in the first post, I would be fixed into me computer screen
I want to keep the first post as clean as possible. Besides, messing with HTML in posts is a bitch on this forum and can screw up the format of the rest of the post if not done right.

I've added the clock to the second post (your post).

Just don't edit the post. If you do, you'll break the HTML and you won't be able to fix it again. Only staff can do it, and I don't think any of the staff will care enough to fix it. They'll be busy enough as it is.

Cool

Or:

They don't believe in piracy
They don't have the tools.
Don't want to get traced back to the leak and get sued.

Be patient! :)
