Final Fantasy 5 and 6

I dont know why, but no matter how many times or how hard I try to enjoy these games, I cannot. Neither of them hook me from the start like most other FF games do, and they just seem rather boring. I don't know if its the graphic style or what, but every time I play them I get bored out of my mind.

I don't understand. Especially for 6. So many people tell me that 6 is the best game of the series and has the best story, characters, battle system, etc... But the only thing I have liked about the game at all from all the times I have played it is the music. The game just feels extremely dull, and thats exactly how it is with 5 for me also.

I want to be able to play them so I can say I have played every main series game all the way through...(11 and 14 don't count, and I am also having the same problem as 5 and 6 with X-2 and 12) FF1 was great, FF2 was still pretty good, FF3 was okay, FF4 was amazing, 7-10 were also amazing, 13 wasn't nearly as good as the others but was still fun, and 13-2 was really good.

But why is it that I absolutely cannot get myself to enjoy 5 or 6?

I'm really hoping for remakes for the 3DS or Vita. Perhaps then I will be able to enjoy them... But for now I can't

Everyone has a time when they don't get into a certain video game.

For example FFVII bores and annoys me to death. The intro is so boring and you have to wiggle through all those pre-rendered environments with your bigheaded Cloud.
And I really like FFV/FFVI. I've finished them both several times. And I didn't get into these game the first time. I finished FFVI the second time I really started to play it.

But I found it really strange that you enjoy FFIV but not V/VI They have the same style and story progression

FF6 is best FF game ever. I always play this game all times. I wish this game have remake. It not fair that FF4 already have remake and even FF3 on DS.

X-2 is more fun, and has better gameplay than X. Most people who decry it haven't even played it because of the sheep mentality about it being bad.

Meh. Nobuo Uematsu didn't compose the music + the idea of having a singing career as the main plot using slutty characters = not a chance in hell of me ever wanting to play it. You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. To the haters of Final Fantasy 6, the game is hardly overrated.

Yes, because you've essentially just said that your dislike of the game stems from factors other than actually playing it. It's like saying "Lord of the Rings is rubbish....i've not read it but it's a bit long so it must be rubbish!"

And that's exactly my point about X-2 hate...sheep mentality about it being bad so hordes of people put off by the change from X (Oh the Holy Grail!) just slate it without having any experience. It's totally ridiculous to share your opinion on something which you haven't tried (especially when it's negative)

I agree that X-2 has good gameplay... But gameplay isn't the reason I disliked X-2 at all. The reason I liked X-2, is that when X had amazing characters and an amazing and unique ending that for once isn't a happy ending, X-2 went and undid the things I loved about X. Yuna was a childhood game crush and I loved her. I loved her character, and her modesty, and how although she wasn't the best at things(couldn't even whistle), she didn't let that get in the way of her happiness.

X-2 took one of my favorite female characters of all time and turned her into a scantily clad pop star. Why and how the hell would someone so modest and bad at even whistling suddenly become a slutty pop star within the course of 2 years?

It also took the character I found the most annoying in X and made her more annoying, and even sluttier than she was in X.

But back to the original subject...

I'm sure the main reason I can't get into FF5 and 6 is because they are very outdated and don't have really good remakes like 3 and 4 do. I'm not a fan of the really old pixel graphics that 5 has, nor am I a fan of the graphics style of 6. 6 has essentially the same style as Chrono Trigger, and I even did not like them in that game, but the game's story and characters hooked me from very close to the start.

It may also be because I have a hard time getting into old games in general unless they get remakes.

It may also be because that for some reason my Flash Card won't save my game correctly. I save, and next time I load the game, the save isn't there.

Well everyone has their own opinion. I mean, everyone I know absolutely hates FF8 because they cannot stand the draw system and they don't understand the story...

But FF8 is one of my top 5 FF games, and the draw system doesn't bother me at all, and the story interests me more than some other games in the series.

I liked 1 because of the gameplay and music, 2 because of the music, loved 4, and loved 7-10. Loved crisis core. 13-2 was really good as well.

Didn't like 3 very much, didn't like 10-2, didn't really like 12 all too much, didn't like 13 all too much.

I was hoping this thread would actually help me figure out why I can't get into 5 and 6. Not become an argument about why 10-2 and 13 are horrible with people using "my friends dont like it" as their "examples". I mean, people should at least use examples from the actual games as to why they are good/bad.

It might just not be your kind of game. I don't think trying to force it no matter how good others claim they are is a good idea.

The same happens to me. I played Dragon Quest V and I loved it, I think it's the best rpg I've ever played, almost made me cry. But I just can't seem to play FFVI, I get bored after 20 minutes.

So, I don't think it's that the game is old, it is maybe the way it starts that doesn't make you feel hooked to it.

I have tried to play the game so many times but never really got into it.
