Gaming Opinions on Final Fantasy Tactics?

I'm pretty new to this series, started with FFTA this year, played FFT, then A2, i think out of all i quite enjoy the first one alot.

i think it's well written, has alot good variety in terms of builds, and has a pretty good run time
my only complaint is how unforgiving the beginning can be without having a specific setup.

My advice is to keep MC as his default birthday, then drop all recruits and hire two female virgo's and a male taurus
focus on chemist for the gals and make one into a white mage then oracle and for the other black mage into time mage
as for the male focus on physical classes.

this is the best advice i can give for those not wanting to go too deep into the
zodiac mechanic as i've personally found it to be a bit of a mess.

i've done two runs of this game, one normal one and one where i make generic recruits, builds based on existing FF characters:

for example: freya crescent i found the best build to be dragoon/dancer, dancer based on her relation to cleyra.

though overall i think this is a pretty good game with lot's of replay value, what are your thoughts on it?

Can't beat the first game, and The Ivalice Chronicles is even better (I never expected to enjoy the VA but it's been well done)
Some fun hacks of the PS1 version too.

Advance also great, A2? Yeah it's also good... neither as long or deep as the first (handheld games though!)
Hoping for another big new game in the series! (Ivalice Chronicles would have to have sold well for that, fingers crossed!)

i found A2 to be the most lacking, it got to the point where towards the end i was baton passing the quicken status back and forth between my nu mou and moogle to eventually reach penelo to quicken just to decimate with a blood priced ultima masher. and that's all i really did towards the end
