Okay, n00b to postloader here.

What's the point of having postloader if I have to use something like WiiFlow or CFG to run iso images?

So far I'm seeing no advantages just a convoluted skin that looks much worse than anything I've ever seen on the Wii.

What a waste,
I take it you haven't tried uloader... :P

Anyway...others have already replied decent answers. But in comparison of wiiflow or CFG, postloader is just a tad minimalistic. (if you leave out all the non-identical features, that is).
Juggling your game collection around like a deck of cards in a dozen different ways is pretty cool at first, but it gets old after a while. For "just" displaying the titles it can play, postloader is still my main choice*.

*yeah, yeah...if you go around tweaking the flow order, you can get it the same way (especially in CFG). Postloader offers it straight out of the box.

@AbdallahTerro, can you try this release: http://www.postloader.freehosting.com/downloads/boot404t3.zip

It is using the open source stub by fix/megazig and for me is working perfectly.

ok, small enhancement request for sometime down the road (or never, lol). Would it ever be possible to use gametdb to see description of game when you click on a cover. So you could have a window pop up with cover and game description? Just a thought, would be neat but not necessary.

I'm evaluating the effort to do that...

hey stfour! thx for 4.0.4 :) like always no problems here so far. now a got a little request: would it be posssible for you to integrate an option to decide if a game gets its own memory card in devo mode (eg. stored in /games/gamexyz-folder along with the .iso- file)?! because some games are using many, many mc space (animal crossing, pokemon etc) and in that way you don't have to care about free mc space anymore :)

mmm... this is possible... but you will have a 16Mb image for every game, a lot of wasted space... anyway I will check.

I like this idea.

In addition to that I have a small cosmetic change request for the homebrew A-button menu. Often the icons look a bit ugly, because they are very pixelated. I guess that's normal, when a 128x48 px icon is blown up to the whole screen.
So I made a quick mockup to show the window in an alternative way with providing more info for the user. (I know, we see some of that info allready, when hovering over the icons.)

The icon is only as big, as on the pages. The app-name, quick description, coder and version is taken from meta.xml. A few posts back you said, that you will remove subfolder support and implement categorys, so I regarded that. What do you think about that?

It certainly looks nice...if the description is short. However, it should be taken in account that the description can range from a single line to multiple pages (postloader itself is a good example).

Granted, there should be scroll buttons for it anyway. But even if they were added, I think it should be able to show at least ten lines of the description.

@Wever, test version for you: http://www.postloader.freehosting.com/downloads/pl404t4.zip

Let me known... :ninja:

@[member='stfour']: This one works!!! :D :hrth:

Granted: without priiloader, return to postloader from emulators won't work, but at least things start nicely as far as I can tell.

@GartimusPrime (and others who are curious): I'm testing a new beta version of neek2o (rev91beta4). It cannot use priiloader. Which is probably why postloader had some issues running as well.

EDIT: I may have spoken a bit too soon. Loading a wii game seems to hang on 'starting disc'.

EDIT2: on the other hand, the first gamecube game I tried actually worked. From neek2o, on DM2.2 (for me, this is a first :P ). It also returned to the (real) menu fine.
Channels: also work.

...and the second wii game I tried started the wrong game (I guess I have to rebuild the game cache).

EDIT3: okay...my bad: rebuilding game cache (postloader way) cleared that up. :)

I'm off to bed right now. But once again: great work, man. :yay:

Anyway this is a problem... both mode should works.

Have you tried again the .app ? That will boot postloader as real replacement of system menu :P :D . I need a way to switch the two app...

thx :) this would also help to use mc emulation with my japanse games... can't use the same mc for them as for pal/us games.

You already can use a seperate memory card for Japanese games with Postloader. It'll automatically create a 16mb memory card just for Japanese games if you select one.

postLoader 4.0.5

* Added support for Devolution r115. 16mbyte memory card dumps no longer required, so feel free to use ctr-gcs/nugasa/gmcc dumps. (daxtsu)

Available as an online update through Postloader, or get the update pack from https://code.google.com/p/postloader/downloads/detail?name=plupdate.4.0.5.zip .

4.05 asked me to dump the stub!!
it seems it doesn't include the changes made by stfour in latest test.
Stub worked now however

This is my failure, I havn't yet update the svn with latest opensource stub.

It is crazy that now it is working  (as it should, by the way)
