Hey peeps,
A Chrome OS beta has been released for the infamous Raspberry Pi. You can grab your copy at the link below

It's for simpletons, maybe? The Pi can do so much better than Chromium though... why, why would you put a glorified "browser OS" on it in the first place?
I'm a fanboy of Google as much as Apple fanboys are to...that company named after a fruit With that said I was actually one of the few people asking around for a project like this in the early days of the Pi forums. This is just plain awesome. The only things keeping me from going 100% Chrome OS is the lack of a proper art application (Mostly Gimp), lack of OnLive gaming and a flash editor C'mon Google, help a bruh out!
Raspberry Pi... Reminds you of something? The pot calling the kettle black.I'm a fanboy of Google as much as Apple fanboys are to...that company named after a fruit
Chrome OS is a fad, it should die a horrible death. An OS, as the name states, is supposed to be an operating system, not a browser on-top of a system kernel. Web Apps are not native programs, they never fully utilize the specs and they're always crap compated to their "native" equivalents. With that said I was actually one of the few people asking around for a project like this in the early days of the Pi forums.
It really isn't. Install proper Linux + Chrome the browser and you'll receive the same end effect plus native applications. This is just plain awesome.
You mean "lack of applications in general" due to the forementioned reason. The only things keeping me from going 100% Chrome OS is the lack of a proper art application[s
Ain't gonna happen, again, due to the forementioned reason. The editor would have to be browser-based and Adobe isn't stupid enough to do something so laughable - Flash is already quite resource-monging.lack of OnLive gaming and a flash editor C'mon Google, help a bruh out!

Chrome/Chromium is an "OS" for netbooks - computers made solely for browsing the Web. There is no reason to put it on a test board like this or a PC - that's not its purpose.
I read "Origin", my bad. I'll edit my post, thanks for pointing that out.OnLive does not belong to EA. Get your facts straight and OnLive already has browser based gaming since E3 I just don't think it works properly in Linux and Chrome OS yet. You are probably right about installing a Linux distro with Chrome browser but I want to stay within the Google ecosystem. As for the Apple fanboy statement, I was being silly.
I found this concept pretty cool, actually. The editor would have to be browser-based and Adobe isn't stupid enough to do something so laughable - Flash is already quite resource-monging.
The OP is wrong. The linked article is for Chromium browser for Raspbian (Debian hardfp)
ChromeOS was release weeks ago, but bugs in the videocard drivers make it unusable.
