Hey,

So I flashed my xbox back in october 2010. Everything was fine for a while until I tried to play the AP 2.5 protected Fable 3. My bad, but I knew the risks. After I did my research I decided I should check to see if my console had been flagged for a ban. The test (some windows tool that checked your serial number or something, I can't remember...) confirmed that my console had in fact been flagged for a ban. Nothing happened, so I continued to use xbox live and play flashed games (offline) although now I was being much less careful as I had already been flagged - I had nothing to lose.

It comes to Christmas and my xbox is still working. My brother puts his HDD in my console to play his legit Assassins Creed and when he puts it back into his own console, he finds his data is corrupt. After calling customer service, they confirm that it's due to playing his game on a flagged console. My Xbox live, however, continues to work.

So a year and a half later, countless Xbox FW updates (I haven't re-flashed, or taken any precaution, I just updated) and Xbox Live is still working. I can still play flashed games also, despite the updates. Is this expected behaviour? Unfortunately, a friend of mine flashed the console and it was before I knew anything on the subject so I can't detail what drive or what FW I have, sorry.

Considering all this though, I'm wondering if I might start playing my backups on Live instead of staying offlnie. I've been flagged for almost two years, am I really likely to get a ban from playing a game online? Or is that what they're waiting for me to do?

Any thoughts?

You can play on LIVE just fine, you could right after you were flagged. If you were that is, there's another way to check with connection checks. Save data corruption probably means it is indeed flagged, though it could just have been a one time deal. Your Xbox probably has a Hitachi drive, which in that case you wouldn't get your drive reflashed. XGD3 games will require an upgrade to your drive firmwares, and an iHAS drive since you have a Hitach drive (other drives support truncated games). All XGD2 games will still work fine. I hope this answers your questions!

That "windows tool" you are describing that tells you if you are flagged for a ban is VERY outdated. It no longer works. Recently MS actually added a new flag or symbol in the about page that nobody knows what it means, so it is unlikely that you are actually flagged at this point unless you gave them a reason for it. According to that thing I have also been flagged, but I have taken all the necessary precautions, if I were you just play it safe and keep in touch with c4eva's info. (never been banned)

Thank you, if only I had posted this back in 2010...

Was the tool outdated in late 2010? My reason would have been trying to play Fable, and since then I've never been cautious about leaving backup discs in or swapping my HDD so I'll be surprised if something hasn't cropped up. Then there was the whole Christmas incident...infact, I'll be mind blown if MS haven't cottoned on to me...

I read something about MS removing AP2.5 failure flags in 15572.

Research pointed out that the AP2.5 security could even be triggered on stock consoles with scratched retail discs.

If you want to play it safe then you should indeed keep in touch with c4evaspeaks.com and flash to every new update.
Also patch every disc with ABGX and burn XGD3 games with an iHAS burner.

Chances that you're getting banned then is 1 in a billion (as long as you don't mod your games/cheat with savegame modders etc)

I can't remember anymore but I've read something quite similar.

It's still plausible for the consoles that only have a few AP 2.5 triggers

Update what?
The console?
No RGHing?

Thanks for your help guys, I love this forum.

I'm just rigging up a windows pc so I can update my fash, I was wondering how often these updates are typically released? Is it with every Xbox dash update, or every new game disc type or something? Since I normally use a mac, updating the flash will be a bit of a challenge and I'm hoping it's once every blue moon.

Thanks.

Depends.

Last few updates where purely to stop the RGH.

I bet that once MS has disabled all the vulnerable 360's from RGHing then they'll turn their attention to flashers.

But keep in touch with c4eva's page when a new update hits.
