What would be interesting is if this had anything to do with Sony's acquisition of Gaikai. No disc tray, no hard drive, just streaming PS3 games.

No. That would be sh*t. Mainly because it would become a brick the moment it's no longer supported by PSN, and Sony has no legal obligation of supporting it till the end of the world.

You might just as well strap live explosives to an ordinary PS3 - the end result will be the same, it'll die eventually.

But it would also be cheap. The people who would be buying something like that would probably not be intending on playing those games "until the end of the world."

i take it everyone has a powerful connection, internet anywhere they'd travel, uses ps3 only for games or have external hdd's, have credit cards or still use them on psn after last year's incident oh and have no friends to share games with, no disks=no sharing since account sharing is not allowed, need more reasons

Technically you can register a game on two systems, so you can still share in the grey zone... That said, no, I'm not a "fan" of cloud gaming.

The Cloud is not something that will "last" - eventually, you don't know when, your system will become obsolete and it will be no longer supported. Or maybe the manufacturer or the service provider will go bankrupt, what will you do then? What if a server is hacked and your account simply disappears, along with its backups? Your content vanishes - your property, which belongs to you and you only, disappears into thin air. You don't have that issue with discs or cartridges - you can hold onto them forever.

Hell, even digital downloads are better - you don't have the jewel case to put on your shelf, but at least you can hold onto the HDD and enjoy the same games you used to play, say, 10 years ago. Don't you guys do it with your older games? If this trend catches on, it will no longer be an option. A new definition for Vaporware will surface - software that was available on the Cloud only and then... simply disappeared.

It's a good alternative for those who don't care about their games all that much and don't feel compelled to collect them, it's not, and it shouldn't be the default mode of software distribution.

Couldn't they just do both the Matte and Gloss and does it really matter that much. As long as it works well and doesn't look to bad why should you care. I guess that might just be me but a less expensive PS3 is good to me regardless of finish.

The original design looked the best in my opinion.

Piano black, glossy and with sexy curves and edges.

I was terribly disappointed with the PS3 slim. It just didn't do the PS3 any justice

fingerprints can be rubbed off. dont touch it. glossiness is for looking at and not touching. if it was the 3ds or ds then its a bad idea bcz ur hands are always on it.
