good on ya fella , suits ya ,, unlucky on going outta the euros though :P

LOLOL yeah :P
BOOM! Anyhoo, now it's all giggles again,..a bit of back on topic malarky?

lol really?
if you want a simple wiiflow why not just use WiiFlow 1.0 or 1.1 / or another rev that suit you well ?
i really think this thread is ridiculous
hey nibb, I'm interested that you think the ideas presented here add complexity - If you read some of the actual content (rather than, I suspect, just the title) generally, the idea is to reduce clutter, and make the latest wiiflow more intuitive and fun to use. Not to just act the luddite. If, following a quick read ;) , you hold the same opinion, I'd genuinely like to know why. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I think that the most intuitive design of wiiflow should follow the Wii system design more closely...

The home button would bring up the home menu like it does on the official system menu and official games,

Like a visor or HUD style or whatever the correct term is... you have the settings behind the main Wiiflow interface invisible and a clean cover flow.

When the home menu is pressed there the design again would resemble the official Wii design, with an "exit to system menu/exit Wiiflow" button top right or mid screen wherever looks right. The more detailed settings then fold out from above/below middle of the screen (where the controller settings are normally accessed from?). Options when you need em sort of thing. Minimal otherwise.

These are just my ideas of my perfect world wiiflow gui, when I dream what I see (if I or anyone else is/was actually capable of coding it...)

Intuitive in my opinion means not going against something already implemented for the main in the other parts of my wii system... but blending into it.
Shortcuts can remain in this design and I would follow standards as closely as possible in its design.. B for back, A for selecting/comfirm (not saying we don't already follow standards now btw but its important for intuitiveness things work as you would normally expect)
The source menu could be inside the home/settings HUD and maybe a button top left of the screen, another possibly to switch NAND/EMU etc. Just my ideas what seems to me natural... all of this is hidden and only called up if the user presses the home button on the controller (could be locked), cover flow should then have nothing popping up button wise, help, settings, etc and is kept clean and minimal (this is then where the ideas mentioned in this thread come into play.. and in cover flow we play)

Icing would be to change the channels audio to something like a running stream or waterfall and slip into the program in laid back like style..

However you all decide to go if things do change I'll still be perfectly happy like now. I wouldn't call myself hardcore hacker or nothing but I've always used and appreciated wiiflow and never used anything else. Liking the Mod more than any other version and I like where fix and the others have focused their attention so far. Take it easy everyone. :)

A well crafted opinion beautifully put, squire. Thankyou.

Quick fyi - you can autoload random ogg files as background music.Ogg's a funny format, so I've converted a bunch of favourite instrumentals "Pink Panther Theme" (Henry Mancini) , Le Femme D'Argent (Air)..about ten altogether? obviously you're more of a "sounds of nature" man! I'd love to hear what you decide on.

EDIT: Only just realised you meant the "banner" sound from the wiiflow forwarder channel? - pm me what it is you want - it's actually pretty easy to do. Find a sound for me and I'll do it for you and tell you how i did it - cool? :)

I note you favour a stylistic copy of the wii home menu - you're certainly not alone in this - there are lots of iterations of this idea, but I must admit a difference of opinion here. Generally, the implementations executed in other software have mostly (always?) looked like pale imitations of the wii interface, and (as you point out) the wii interface itself doesn't offer all the available options 'suitable' for a home menu. Imho, the original wii artwork is just designed for 2 options, 3 at a push. What's suitable of course is open to debate - I until recently favoured a red orange green for turn off standby restart, but Fix94 has completely sideswiped that idea with a superb advance - a picture is posted with the r500 (r500!) post on the main thread. - entirely suitable for wiiflow, and expandable(?). hopefully as time goes on, we'll have buttons and it'll be a bit prettier :ha: (not to detract from some fantastic work) . This might be a more suitable implementation for your idea - could you giver a bit more of a description of what you envisage ?

Do you think much, if any, of what you describe is similar to a "right click context menu" instead opening under the home menu, would you be happy with that implementation, or how would you change it to suit you?

I love emoticons. I :moogle: emoticons

You've really made me think about my personal preference for on screen buttons in coverflow. - this requires some thought! I do think we need a debate about the defaults, and the option to place buttons in other suitable locations around wiiflow is a lovely idea. (I would also suggest most if not all buttons could be hidden as icons and/or text in a right click context menu, but i'm trying to avoid repeating myself!(and failing - last time i mention this))

I suppose the Help icon should be there by default, but it would be nice to remove it from coverflow and find it via other means

Settings button - already on home button menu - nice - is it still on coverflow? Need to check this - personally don't think even Nooby McNoob of Noobington, Noobshire needs a coverflow button as well. Opinions will differ, I'm sure ;)

Catagories button - Think a lot of users would appreciate the option to launch this via a coverflow button, me included, but not everyone. Is this already optional? Haven't updated the wii since before 'B'=source menu - like waiting to taste manna from heaven!!! all this having a life and spending silly amounts of time posting on forums - no one can doubt the time spent on this trousers. Anyhoo,

Favourites button - To me, gold, but I've heard some prefer a categories button. Categories is a fair bit more flexible, but it's a pain to edit large collections. HELP ME WITH THIS

Home button -certainly should be there by default, (especially if, as I expect, this opens the all new Home menu,) i think I'd still use this whatever, I'd like being able to click to settings, but now with  some other people could well be happy without it too.

'sources' button (i.e. emulator,, usb icon etc.) - Is this still on by default? I really need to fire up wiiflow, but wife is engaged with the wii. (Not in the biblical sense) - outmoded if using the source menu, Lovely, graphical icons - could be used elsewhere? Someone, I forget who, has recently suggested they're used in the source menu before users decide to set it up - cool idea - maybe holding over the home button could pop these up?

Disc button - imo would be more intuitively accessible via the source menu - is just taking up space for me, deffo should be removable.

Some others may also prefer no buttons, please note at least one button, indeed each button, would provide another context to right click on, other than games, the arrows , and the background!!(only half a mention) :P

Thanks for the reply spacepimp glad it was ok I shared my ideas on this subject here... and yes it was the wiiflow forwarder channel that I would like to change to a kinda sound of nature ambient running river/stream type of thing?
I'll defo appreciate your help with this sometime soonish, not that I hate the default sound or anything like that

I'm just distracted as I've got quite big probs at the minute with my wiiflow since I updated to 485
(can only get one game to load now (ssbb), just got nand emu working on usb which might help me but only ssbb saves on my SD, I cannot got wiiflow to find the sd nand.. but I digress this is for another topic)

I'm gonna properly read through your reply now, I'll be back though. :)

Just to expand a little on this, I think the cover flow would be best totally clean of icons, (if they are there they should be invisble unless the pointer is moved to the area they reside in possibly, personally I'd rather things work a little different though)

I say do away with the home button altogether, have it solely accessed by a press of home on the wiimote and have the home menu appear like that.
We then have a frozen cover flow underneath a semi transparent home menu exactly like it does in a game only with wiiflows stuff there (just brainstorming here a little btw :) it is an interesting subject though)
So I push the home button on my wiimote to call up the wiiflow home menu... coverflow chills while we check our shi*

Now from the home menu we can move into other parts of wiiflow or adjust a wiiflow setting and go back to where we were just seconds ago....like a bridge/crossroads... you move through home menu from a coverflow to get to other parts of wiiflow and it keeps the different functions from overcrowding each other (the idea is everything has all the space it needs but if it suits it, its own place/space). Minimalism in full effect but with all of the functionality intact.

So on the home menu we for example have:

The help info is displayed over the main screen, credits, etc. The update function is also accessed from this menu instead, so the buttons on cover flow can be removed.

Source button, that takes us to this screen or brings that screen to us,

Nand/Emunand button (which could function as either depending on what the user likes) this removes the "press B on a button" thing which I'm not sure is intuitive at all tbh, though I don't hate that or anything...

Games/GC button could possibly switch from wii to gc flows or the two could be combined into one flow optionally (setting to allow the choice)..

Exit WiiFlow button

Advanced settings are also accessed from this home menu front/main screen, but maybe a slightly smaller tab below middle of the screen...
The users focus is always on what we would use day to day, but the sensitive/detailed stuffs just kinda hiding in the background (if you know what I mean).

Hmmm....
EDIT:
Was thinking more about this after I put my pen down and changed my mind a little...
The home menu should incorporate the help and update functions making these buttons unnecessary and easily removed from the cover flow (glad to see when I checked the main thread that must have been thought of by FIX and others, its looking good, wish I could help)

And as far as aesthetics go I think it would be nice if nand flow the channels could look like normal channels rather than a game case.
If the official art/banner? from the channels could be read and displayed, it would be good if you could scale the size so instead of system menu size channels on one screen you could have a lot of smaller ones when browsing nand/emunand etc
(like how the 3ds does that sort of thing if you ever used one of those)
The option to use "original channel graphics" if official title" or "custom cover" for titles in nand cover flow would be very good if it was ever possible,
I like the idea of wiiflow displaying original boxes/cases for emu snes megadrive nes etc and original channels graphics for the official vc ww channel stuff basically.

Was having more thoughts about buttons and I think switching from nand/emunand to Games/GC are important enough to warrent a button on cover flow/wiimote too.
So I just wanted to update because I thought more and its an interesting topic/debate, this is like I said what I think would be perfect but there are so many options and different opinions on these things, hopefully the debate is useful and constructive eitherways.

I thought that I should point out that any buttons that the user deems unnecessary can be hidden either by editing the wiiflow ini or the theme inis, giving them 0x0 dimensions. That is all.

Brilliant workaround ! Thanks drakorex for the tip! :)
EDIT: Might be one for wiiflow.info when it comes online!

Also...

2: in the wiiflow.ini file in /apps/wiiflow/ there's sections for each one like [NAND] for the channels and such. in each there's an entry something like disable=no or hide=no or something. Just change the no to yes in each one you want to get rid of.

...is worth bearing in mind, if you want to remove any sources.

@[member='spacepimp'], Hey, you like writing/ creating threads/ helping others to use wiiflow better. You should create a thread on how to set up and use wiiflow from the various posts in the wiiflow thread. It might become stickied and also BostonBC could use it for his website. :)

I was literally just about to ask you to do the same thing.
Honestly, I don't feel qualified. Given the display above, I've proven it :P ! I was thinking of doing a really half arsed one, with the hope that it would irritate someone who actually knows what they're talking about to do it. really tho, you should just do a first draft. You well deserve a sticky more than me, anyhoo!

A Quick recap of some of the suggestions - lets consider as read credit where credit's due - this is all free (beer or speech?) intelectual property under the open philosophy in which WiiFlow is made - and that these are merely 1st drafts (EDIT: 2nd DRAFTS!) before submission to google code. The drafts contain refinements as well as initiall incarnations for ideas. Please note - I have it on good authority that the order of priority in which issues are dealt with is influenced directly by the order in which they are submitted, so if users could state their preferences in order, that might be useful.
Thanks

What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
That the user be able to 'grab' the coverflow, via an intuitive A+B combo. When the user moves the grabbed point, coverflow follows the horizontal plane underneath the pointer. When either the pointer leaves the side of the screen, or the user releases the A+B combo, the coverflow continues to move in the (vectored?) horizontal direction and speed of the pointer. The coverflow will continue to move at the same rate, slowing only by a small (user adjustable?) friction factor. If the A+B combo is used over the screen, or the pointer moves onto the screen with A+B pressed, the cover flow immediately anchors under the pointer again, ready to scroll, or select a game.
REFINEMENTS:
a "grab" state graphic for the pointer.
If the pointer remains over the screen, the 'wheel' could slow more quickly than when it isn't, EDIT:or enter a 'slow mo' state that ends when the curser is pointed away again, returning to the original speed. pitching down the roulette's 'click' (rather than just the rate of click) will evoke a sense of slow motion.
When the pointer is away from the screen, an A+B combo could invoke gesture behaviour - thus if the wiimote is twisted away from the direction of flow, the flow will slow, if twisted with the flow, it will speed up.
I would suggest that the rate of a subtle clicking sound might help the user get a feel for rate of the wheel turning - perhaps the current "pop!" could be used as a new column enters the screen.

One more point - there is a debate to be had about whether A+B object clicking is more useful than the roulette wheel functionality described, but my concern is that it might get under the roulette wheel manipulation. A+B object click currently quick-starts games, and is really useful as such, but I think that functionality could be just as easily invoked by other means, and the A+B combo feels so like a grab, it's best used here. EDIT: Quick start = hold 'A', Double click 'A'.etc.
EDIT: A recent poll showed a user preference for this function over A+B quick start.

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Users will have a very fast and intuitive means of finding their title, often amongst hundreds of games, controlled at a pace the user themselves set and find easy to manipulate.

EDIT: The programming cost is an unknown quantity (can a coder help with this?) but we're basically describing a way to control the speed and direction of coverflow's flow.

3
What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
Vertical roulette wheel scrolling
In cover flows with 2 dimensions (i.e. columns as well as rows) grabbing the coverflow with an A+B combo and moving vertically would induce similar behaviour to the horizontal grab and throw.

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
see above. :)

4
What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
(Option) Vertical roulette wheel Initial letter scrolling. The idea is that in addition to being able to jump letters via B + Up or DOWN, users can grab coverflow with an A+B combo and move through initial letters in the vertical dimension in a similar grab and throw move to horizontal roulette wheel scrolling. This might be more intuitive on coverflows with one dimension (i.e. in a line) as 2 dimensional coverflows would display okami either once in a line or over and over again!

EDIT: The rows and columns display of a coverflow that orders the rows by letter - or by any other subgrouping - needs more thought than I've given it here. Any thoughts, dear lurker?

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Initial letter scrolling is a handful to describe but easy to understand. In addition to B+UP or DOWN It will provide another quick, intuitive way of finding the title you want amongst many.

5 (from googlecode issue76)

Display the source menu in coverflow format (option)

What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
That the source menu retains it's functionality and ini flexibitiy, but in addition to the 2d pop-up menu, the sources can displayed as HQ 3D covers in a custom 'sourceflow'.
What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Choosing the source you want will be quicker and more intuitive
The flexibilty of the display options from within coverflow is brought to the source menu.
It's more consistent with the wiiflow experience
It'll be prettier ;)

(excerpt ends)

It just seems a waste to have something as beautiful, configurable, and as quick and easy to use as coverflow, but then not use it to select sources. Instead we we have a (functional and loveable) 2d, 'icon' based menu, that, tbh, just doesn't compare.

I understand that one of the arguments against a sourceflow is that covers should be kept for games. i.e. that excluding sources from 3d box display allows the user to differentiate between being in a game coverflow, and selecting sources. I can see this is a valid point, but as 'B' now opens the source menu, users can more easily conceive that they're in the top tier of a folder structure. I would also add that a 3d box view, ( draft 10) might be sufficiently different to help users conceptualise difference.

Another issue with a coverflow is that It lacks the ability of the checkbox solution for multiple selections, ie. more than one source at a time, but coverflow has the advantage in that it's easier to see what you want and click it than to: open a box, read the selections, uncheck the ones you don't want, check the ones you do, close the box. I would add that an optional sourceflow doesn't exclude using checkboxes.

Further edited excerpts from the googlecode request http://code.google.c...es/detail?id=76

Wow, you have a big imagination. It all sounds neat but I don't have the time to do all the recoding and coding it would take to make all of that happen. And I'm sure the other devs will agree. WiiFlow is fine the way it is. If you really want all that then start learning c++ so you can edit wiiflow source code to your liking.

Comment 4 by [email protected], Jun 12, 2012

Please forgive my speculations, i do have an active imagination. I was thinking it could be achieved relatively simply. The code to boot dols from a 'flow already exists with brewflow, you're booting dols from \wiiflow\plugins rather than \apps. We just call one dol homebrew and the other dol a plugin. The code to display 3d covers and launch specific media associated with a cover already exists within coverflow, you're just launching a dol instead of media, as in brewflow. The source menu already exists. With regard to the additional suggestion for custom 'folders', I believe i read somewhere, and this might be wrong, that plugins would soon have custom backgrounds, and already have custom launch sounds and coverflows.Differing coverflows animate between configurations already, when browsing through them. I'm merely suggesting that the direction of swipe, as it were, could help with moving through the interface. It seems to me a bit of imagination is what's required.:)Obviously, i know nothing of coding, but is it really so much more complex than other recent and ongoing developments?Or is it just that wiiflow's fine the way it is?

Just a quick adjustment to the request really, and these assume that such manipulations are already bread and butter to coverflow. Can i suggest that the sourceflow appears from behind the user, as the coverflow disappears into this distance. Likewise, when selecting a source via source flow, the coverflow expands from an infinate point in the distance as the source flow disappears to a point behind the user. The idea is that, when used in conjunction with roulette scrolling, the user has a sense that they are moving in a 3rd dimension, away and towards, between the surfaces. These surfaces i.e. ("coverflows" ) they can then scroll in the up down / left right dimensions.

(edit) "fade to black" at a given 'distance' is probably easier than fade to an infinite point?

I've said here that a sourceflow would seem of a comparable difficulty to other recent developments - but I would reiterate that I have absolutely no idea - this needs comment from someone with experience in coding wiiflow (or any other coverflow loaders).

n.b. - I'm aware that neither FIX nor Overjoy use the source menu, so this is unlikely to be pursued unless another coder fancies taking it up or a sufficient amount of interest is generated - so if you think a SOURCEFLOW is a good idea - Please say so. (or just *like this post :))

Please note - Draft # 10 (below) is an enhancement to standardise and enable 3d console/controller boxes in a "sourceflow".

What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?

Could we give users a bit more choice about which buttons are displayed in wiiflow?
eg catagories button, viewing options button etc.
NOTE Existing buttons are "switchoffable"
I thought that I should point out that any buttons that the user deems unnecessary can be hidden either by editing the wiiflow ini or the theme inis, giving them 0x0 dimensions. That is all.
2: in the wiiflow.ini file in /apps/wiiflow/ there's sections for each one like [NAND] for the channels and such. in each there's an entry something like disable=no or hide=no or something. Just change the no to yes in each one you want to get rid of.

I'm not sure if notepad will separate out the lines right or not so you might have to use wordpad or something.

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Greater user choice. A cleaner interface. More general use of the categories ini.

EDIT: The discussion (about which buttons are there by default, which users would like to switch off from within wiiflow, and additiional buttons users would like to see) is ongoing - Please submit your thoughts.

7
What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
Tool tip. Pops Open when a user holds the cursor over a button or object for a given period. Variations on the idea are - full tip in balloon - 3 or 4 word tip and help icon to launch help text at relevant point - help icon only (opens help text at relevant point).
What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Greater usability for the smarter than average bear.

8
What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?

"Right click" context menu invoked by pressing + on wiimote (ini alt "-" for left handers? ) on objects in coverflow.
EDIT: "+" and"-" still reserved for page scrolling while not pointing at an object - I would hope roulette scrolling would quickly feel more useful. (if implemented!)
Could contain relevant text, icons, or a combination of the two.
For example - right clicking a cover might pop up several small icons:
an "I" information icon - opens the games info page
Help - tips on getting any game to work
Basically, simple contextual icons that invoke the more useful functions currently only available via a short cut or in a menu, or an ini!

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
It's more room for functionality now that 2 button combos have run out. As an approach, it also has the advantage that it provides a visual, onscreen, choice to users and it's familiar to windows users to open a context menu with a right click.

Currently you can invoke functions by using shortcuts:
Code:
Controls:
- Main menu (coverflow) :
-- Up / Down = Previous / next game (vertical)
-- Left / Right = Previous / next game (horizontal)
-- Minus / Plus = Fast skip through games
-- A = Select game
-- B+A = Launch game immediately
-- B+Home = Reload Wiiflow
-- Home = Exit to Wii menu
-- 1 / 2 = Previous / next coverflow mode
-- B+Left / B+Right = Change Song
-- B+UP / B+DOWN = Alphabetic search
-- B+Onscreen Arrows = Alphabetic search
-- B+Minus = Switch Partition
-- B+Plus = Sort Games

-- A on Star Icon = Favorites
-- B on Star Icon = Categories
-- A on Gear Icon = Wiiflow settings
-- B on Gear Icon = Refresh cache
-- A on USB, DML, Channels, Emu, or Homebrew Icon = Switch to that view
-- B on USB, DML, Channels, Emu, or Homebrew Icon = Enable/Disable Emu-NAND and switch to Channels view
-- A on Home Icon = Exit to Wii menu
-- B on Home Icon = Display Source menu
-- A on Disc Icon (Game Disc in Drive) = Launch game disc
-- A on Question Mark Icon = Display credits and this help file, and update WiiFlow

- Game :
-- A on box = Show the backside
-- A out of screen = Launch game
-- B = Back to coverflow
-- Up / Down = Previous / next game (vertical)
-- Left / Right = Previous / next game (horizontal)
-- Plus = Game Info
---Right (in Game Info) = Game Description
---Left (in Game Desc) = Game Info
-- A on Star Icon = Toggle Favorite (Yellow = Favorite)
-- B on Star Icon = Set Categories for game
-- A on Hand Icon = Parental Lock (Red = locked)
-- A on Gear Icon = Game Settings
-- A on X Icon = Delete Game

- Settings menus :
-- Minus / Plus = Previous / next page
-- Left / Right = Previous / next page

- Coverflow Adjust settings :
-- B+Minus / B+Plus = Previous / next page
-- B = Faster adjustment (B+A instead of just A to click a button)
-- B+1 = Copy whole coverflow
-- B+2 = Paste coverflow\n\

TIPS for running games that crash:
If the game just locks up with a black screen at launch then check to see if it is a PAL game.
(Press the Plus button on the game screen.) If it is PAL, then set the game's video mode to "PAL 50Hz" in the game's setting screen.
You will need to use a component connection to the TV and have your WII set to 480p video mode.

If a game crashes, then try running the game again. If it continually crashes, then turn the USB Emulation to \"Off\" in the game's setting screen.
You can put this in your /wiiflow/help/ folder and use the
btninfos.png
button for shortcut reference in the future.
(right click where it says "view raw file" and save it.)

EDIT : Additionally, the description in the HBC says this :
Code:
WiiFlow is a Wii Game, Channel, Wiiware, Virtual Console, and Savegame Emulator intended for use with legal backups.
Controls:
- Main menu (coverflow):
-- Up / Down Previous / next game (vertical)
-- Left / Right Previous / next game (horizontal)
-- A Select game
-- B+A Launch game immediately
-- B+Home Reload Wiiflow
-- Home Exit
-- 1 / 2 Previous / next coverflow mode
-- B+Left / B+Right Change Song
-- B+UP / B+DOWN Alphabetic search
-- B+Minus Switch Partition
-- B+Plus Sort Games
-- Minus+Home Exit to Homebrew Channel
-- Plus+Home Exit to System Menu
-- 1+Home Exit to Priiloader
-- 2+Home Exit to BootMii

-- Minus+A on Exit Icon Exit to Homebrew Channel
-- Plus+A on Exit Icon Exit to System Menu
-- 1+A on Exit Icon Exit to Priiloader
-- 2+A on Exit Icon Exit to BootMii
-- B on View Icon Enable/Disable Nand emulator

- Game :
-- A on box Show the backside
-- A out of screen Launch game
-- B Back to coverflow
-- Minus / Plus Previous / next game (vertical)
-- Left / Right Previous / next game (horizontal)

- Settings menus :
-- Minus / Plus Previous / next page
-- Left / Right Previous / next page

- Coverflow settings :
-- B+Minus / B+Plus Previous / next page
-- B Faster adjustement (B+A instead of just A to click a button)
-- B+1 Copy whole coverflow
-- B+2 Paste coverflow
Each has some information the other doesn't, I think.

The nun-chuck does stuff, too, as well as the GameCube controller, guitar and classic controller. WiiFloWiki.com has a chart for that although I'm not sure how up to date it is.

What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?

Whilst pointing at the screen, holding the 'B' down over a time limit (4 secs?) invokes a pop up "I" INFO:cheat sheet bubble with all the 2 button combos on it. Releasing "B" within the time limit opens the source menu, providing no other buttons have been pressed. After the cheat sheet is invoked, pressing any 2 key combos returns to coverflow and invokes the relevent function, releasing B just returns to coverflow.

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
Helps users learn shortcuts

Sourceflow refinement:
Standardised, cutesy proportioned, spinning box to fit all console and handheld form factors for a source flow of 3d boxes, (rather than 3d covers)
There have been suggestions that the consoles available via source menu could be represented in 3d in the sourceflow, someone has even submitteda snes (i think?). I suspect customising these to each console is a bit of a tall order. To make it easier, can I suggest we instead have a standardised box, that all consoles, handhelds and controllers would fit in. This could distort the dimensions to have a cutesy boxy look, (see pong on the ps1, or the charachters in bash party) that artists could cartoonishly blow up the buttons, iconography, i/o and other features of the console. There is a problem that the same box would have to be used for both portrait or landscape form factor devices, but if they rotated, this might stem that issue.
I only say this now because sourceflow has not yet been developed, and because of this we have a unique opportunity to make a remarkable addition to the wiiflow legacy.n.b. This submission assumes that a 3d object is as easy to implement as a 3d cover, (except with a bigger skin!) could a coder get me straight on this?
