I tried using a different SD card (a 2GB one) and it finally worked for me. Such a shame, I had been using an 8GB one which seemed to load any ROM except for Pokemon Black and Conquest. This'll do for now until AKAIO 1.9.9 is released

Seems I'm not the only one having this problem, but I figured I'd post up exactly what I did. Let me know if there's any step that I messed up in or any new fixes that I missed. I'm using an Acekard 2i with AKAIO 1.8.9z and I'm getting the "The data cannot be read. Turn off power..." message.

I downloaded 2 different clean roms, both with the correct CRC32 values. Downloaded the patch, patched the files, and checked and matched the new CRC32 values.

I downloaded the new 1.8.9z loaders. First I simply replaced the loaders, but after I still got the error message, I formatted the card with Panasonic SD Formatter and put in a clean install of 1.8.9z.

Tried running the game with Bypass AntiPiracy both on and off, deleted the .sav file before both attempts.

And that about sums up everything that I know I'm supposed to do. Did I do anything wrong? Are there any known fixes? Or is this just a game of chance where some people's cards are working and others aren't for Acekards...

EDIT: Just tried to run the patched rom in NO$GBA and got the same error message. Going to try manually patching instead of using the automated patcher and return with the results. Also, I know the clean rom is fine because I can played it just fine on DeSmuMe; I played for 30-45 minutes earlier today without problems.

So I tried manually patching and I even found the exact rom (named VPYTv00.nds) that the automated patcher wants and patched that. Both times I still get the same error message on both my Acekard 2i AKAIO 1.8.9z and NO$GBA. Can anyone confirm that they've gotten it working on NO$GBA? Oh well, I guess I'll continue to play on DeSmuME with the clean rom...

I keep getting a "Cannot write Save Data" screen every time i boot up the rom.
I have followed the instructions on the first page, like, 3 times with roms from different sites, i even tried with a different micro sd and no luck.
Any else got this and fixed it?
Im using an AK2i with 1.8.9z btw.

Most likely you missed a step.
When using Panasonic SD Format tool, it's best to use these settings FORMAT TYPE - FULL (OverWrite) : FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT - ON.
I have found that can make a difference.

I am having trouble even getting the most recent Wood Kernel to work on my R4 at all. I have and R4i 3DS, and whenever I follow instructions exactly (which tend to just be extract everything into the root directory and bam it works) yet I always get the red ? Menu. If anyone can help me with this, I would love you forever.

I used this method with a clean rom, works like a charm for DSTWO.

THIS. THIS. 100 TIMES THIS. The AKAIO forum post labeled 1.8.9z is NOT the same thing as the loaders. Go to http://akaio.net/loaders/ (not sure if I'm allowed to post links here, I'm new here. If not I'll edit this post) and replace the "1.8.9z loader" with this one. I can confirm, having followed all the other steps correctly and getting errors up until this point, that this is what will fix the error for Acekard 2i users.

I think it should be clarified on the front page that you need to download from the loaders page rather than AKAIO 1.8.9z post on their forums. While it should have the same loader, there's obviously a difference between the full install and the loader-only download.

I thought the same thing, but I gave it a chance and I'm actually enjoying it. I can't say how long that will last, but I've found it to be very fun.
