So, we all know there was a price drop on Gamestop for the PS3's. It was $199 with a free (and actually cool) game.
Right know, there are bundles of $249 with a game. Do you think there will be a price drop on the PS3 coming soon? Like on the E3?
If it drops to $199 with a game, like on the Gamestop deal we had, i would buy it.
What you guys think?

hard to say, with the Wii U coming out maybe later this year i could see Sony maybe knocking off 50 or so dollars to compete depending on what price Nintendo annouce. then again E3 is only weeks away so i guess we will see then

After having a X360 that got 3RL I'll never buy any MS console again.
I find it outrageous that they sold a console, with such a high price, that destroys itself.
Bad architeture, this is a problem that a enterprise like MS should not have, having this shows how unprepared they are to the gaming market.
It looks like a project that got anticipated, canceled, time in beta testers, revisions, to release it soon, with a product not so good.

PS3 also had issues with it dying on the earlier releases, so it isn't like Microsoft were the only ones. I had a 360 with the RROD and took it in for repairs and it's been fine for the next 3 years.

Anyway, a price drop would have to come around sooner or later. I seem to remember being able to pick up a PS2 very cheap by this time in the consoles life. I know there are differences in the situation, but a drop to under $200 should be done soon.

most consoles have had the same problem, my ps3 died on me back in march after bearly having it a year, bit of a fucker considering it was one of the backwards compatible ones so i would guess the real age of it to be around 6 years

That was simply because they released it a whole year before its competitors. The original Xbox never had problems like this.
Anyways, the newer 360s don't RRoD or anything like that. They've learned from their mistakes.

This problem is more common in old X360.
I've heard some cases of PS3 dying because of overheat, but compared to X360 it's almost none.
Almost every X360 from the first release year is dead by 3RL

By the way, YaiMii, what do you mean with original X360?

I meant the original Xbox. It's what some people call the Xbox 1. I'm not sure if they sold those in Brazil.

Now I understand :D
When you said original xbox I tought of some unreleased version of X360
The original Xbox was rock-solid, it worked even buried underground! Seriously, that's real, I saw it!
The original Xbox played every video and audio format ever.

I don't understand why X360 became so fragile and worse in many aspects compared to the original Xbox

as best as memeory serves me, the 360 was a bit of a rush job due to a contract for the gpu on the original Xbox running out, hence why backwards compatibility can be a bit wonky and why as far as hardware build in the original line ups tended to be so fragile

I wouldn't bother with PS3 now. I've had mine for a while now and the only reason I'd replace it is if it breaks and a repair costs more than a used one. My sights are now set on the WiiU later this year.
prepare to be disapointed

I wish some one had told me to "Prepare to be disappointed" when I bought my PS3, compared the PS1 and the PS2's software library the PS3's is just horrible.

On the main topic, yeah the PS3 needs a price drop, a console shouldn't cost 250$ at the end of its life, it should be much much cheaper by now.

PS3 has the best third party games working on it!
What were you expecting?

The list would be too large to fit in a forum post, you may not remember the laundry list of hits the PS1 and PS2 had but just rest assured it was varied and didn't consist of 200 different FPS games... I guess what I was expecting was some variety :)

What I'm saying is:
This is a problem with 3rd parties.
Sony can't do much about this.

Well the PS2 is the best console in existence (#opinion), so I doubt there will ever be a console that's able to match it's caliber ever again, especially because 3rd party devs were actually interested in the Nintendo console this time around.
