A developer claiming to be from Ubisoft Milan has posted a batch of Wii U related information on an Italian message board. The developer believes that the price for Wii U will be between $350 – $450, and that the system will launch on November 23rd. Nintendo isn’t expected to reveal pricing or a release date until sometime after E3.

* Wii U supports DirectX 11 and is already running Unreal Engine 4
* Wii U will support to touch-screen controllers
* The console has 2GB or RAM, 560MB dedicated to the OS
* The launch date will be 23 November
* Launch price hasn’t been decided but will be between $350 – $450
* Rayman Legends, The Avengers, Assassin’s Creed 3, Just Dance 4 are all on Ubisoft’s Wii U
schedule, with Killer Freaks from Outer Space set to arrive weeks after launch.
* There are currently multiple versions of the console with developers
* Graphics are powered by the Radeon HD 6770 chipset
* Assassin’s Creed 3 will run at 60fps at 1080p, compared to 720p on PS3 and Xbox 360
* Wii U will come with pre-installed software
* Crytek, EA and Valve are all working on Wii U
* Valve are working on a digital distribution platform and Portal ports
* Wii U will support achievements
* Wii U’s UI will be customisable
* The new button has some link to the Wii Vitality Sensor
* The trigger buttons won’t be analogue

DirectX 11 is owned by Microsoft and the square below the D-pad can not technically be like the vitality sensor, the vitality sensor works by using an infrared light and a detector to measure hemoglobin contractions in your fingertip, your finger must be placed between a receiver and a transmitter for it to work. It can't be done with just a square.
This is clearly a fake "leak".

Hasn't that square thing been confirmed as the NFC sensor because Nintendo found that placing objects onto the Wii U screen would cause damage?

Using it for Vitality sensor stuff really makes this fabrication (already confirmed as fake) sound more bullshit than anything, did a total mongoloid come up with this?

* Wii U supports DirectX 11 and is already running Unreal Engine 4 - No.
* Wii U will support to touch-screen controllers - Don't we already know that?
* The console has 2GB or RAM, 560MB dedicated to the OS - That is some MONSTROUS OS right there, consoles rarely take that much in Idle Mode.
* There are currently multiple versions of the console with developers - No developer would ever risk programming a game when there is the risk of having to scrap it when a different version of the console is released as the final one. What the original writer probably meant was different versions of the devkit, which is an entirely different story.
* Assassin’s Creed 3 will run at 60fps at 1080p, compared to 720p on PS3 and Xbox 360 - ...doubt it?
* Wii U will come with pre-installed software - Like every other last gen?
* Crytek, EA and Valve are all working on Wii U - They explicitly stated that their current projects do not concern the WiiU as far as I remember.
* Valve are working on a digital distribution platform and Portal ports - Valve has Steam for that.
* Wii U will support achievements - Finally?
* Wii U’s UI will be customisable - as was the Wii's.
* The new button has some link to the Wii Vitality Sensor - Doubt it.
* The trigger buttons won’t be analogue - Doubt it, it would be suicide.

I know it's been proven fake, but hey - a commentary is a commentary. :P

Actually one very plausable thing I se here is the triggers not being analog. When Nintendo introduced the Classic Controller Pro, they abandoned their previous analog triggers in favour of more clicky digital buttons. And as you might notice, the CCP and the Wii U tablet have exactly the same amount of inputs. They might want to keep things consistent

Fake edit: Ahoy there Foxi. The Unreal Engine 4 should be pretty scalable. There's no real reason why it wouldn't run on Wii U with some tweaks. And I think to say that using digital triggers would be suicide is a bit of an overstatement

Oh, I'm well-aware of that - what I was saying it that it's not optimized to that degree yet. ;)

As for the analog triggers, I honestly believe that by now those should become a staple of every single home console controller - they're useful at for example racing games where acceleration has to be gradable - they're simply something that "should be there" in my opinion. ;)

It's one of my Wii U worries - after looking at the Wii U controller it could really be either.

Got this from Wii Hacks but they seemed to believe it was legit, so I commented saying that some kid faked it and the comment was deleted wtf is up with that. Do they like having false news.

:/ But cant you just use the second triggers instead? Seems more practical since its useful for more then just one genre of game.

I have an idea! Why not use both, like most controllers nowadays? :P

they have some power complex. They choose what to believe and delete anything that goes against it. I'm surprised you believed anything from them in the first place xD

DirectX made me suspicious. the 2gb ram confirmed my suspicions xD Unless thats memory on the gpu, it would make a little more sense.

@Psionic Roshambo i didn't go amd for one specific reason, the AI performance is way behind nvidia
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    i just got a 4070ti
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
oh yeah also DLSS is a pretty solid reason to go nvidia since fidelityfx is kinda crap
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
both of which work well in potplayer
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
