Did anyone else notice you can hotswap SD Cards while a prompt is open on the 3DS menu?? Not sure if this could lead to anything.

Out of all the things i've seen in this thread, this one might actually have potential. What kind of prompt are you talking about specifically
Close this suspended software, Camera can't be used while it is in use by suspended software, and New software has been added to the HOME menu should work too. The demo one too.

Well at the time I don't know how the 3ds checks memory integrity, but this one can easily be tested 0xDEADBEEF(symbolic) anyone?

To clarify, it won't complain about the SD Card being removed if you take it out, and if you reinsert before closing the prompt, it won't complain after closing the prompt. I'm thinking file replacement could be a possibility ;)

that's what I'm going to test for, but what I'm wondering is when it checks if the user data is corrupt

Technically, you could already do that with a file proxy using a dual-SD-capable microcontroller. Namely, look for 2 SPI ports and the ability to use hardware assistance to handle all the data transfers that are mostly copying and intercept the ones you need with the slower software data path. But changing the card out in the middle without any extra hardware... haha, that's cool. If you actually found a working exploit, it would have been wiser to not post it here but to the people working on it.

Guys, this thread probably needs to be closed.. It's mostly just spam of what people think qualifies as an exploit when they don't even understand anything about the development and work that goes into finding these exploits. Not to mention, this thread could be monitored by Nintendo, and if they see anything that could be an exploit, expect it to be patched.

It's nice that people can pitch ideas, but it gets annoying when there's so many people who have no idea what they're talking about. I personally believe that all exploit discussion should be kept to private IRC channels, or at least private messaging within IRC.

Nintendo people can still join those irc rooms and stuff.

Read the part where I said "private IRC channels" as in, channels that aren't advertised on silly forums that most devs don't even bother discussing information regarding the hacking of consoles.

Yeah, if we somehow do get close to exploits, they'll be mysteriously not working on one console and working fine on one that's never been online. And yes, Netflix is encrypted. I didn't even think anyone had to ask that one. Maybe point people here and say "if it's on here, don't bother telling us" and edit the first post to list a summary of them all. It's quite possible that the cat will be let out of the bag if we keep this one open, and further ideas are likely going to just be restating existing ones at this point. It's been a long time and we've mostly run this thread's course.

Netflix is most certainly encrypted, otherwise all the video content would be open to easy copying and netflix and the copyright holders definitely do not want that.

i have an idea (dont get me wrong at the idea)

we have a use the nsa super computer the is made to un-encrypt anything to un-encrypt the files

How about to clip some device on ram modules, then force 3DS to update firmware (of course the 3DS must have lower firmware than actual), and everything what goes through ram will be saved to some file, and then analyse the file :D, isnt possible do find out keys this way?

Closing the thread would be disastrous, it's useful for catching most of the brain-dead suggestions that get posted in this forum instead of users creating new threads for every hair-brained idea they think constitutes a hacking theory. No offence intended towards anybody contributing these moronic ideas, of course.

As for Nintendo reading this thread, sure that might happen on a slow work day where they need a good laugh.

Almost definitely pointless, but they fixed the crash on the 3DS browser when you go to 3DSexploit.webs.com.
It just seemed a bit obscure to matter that much..
IIRC, some people were claiming the browser was a little faster at browsing large sites after the last update, it could have been fixed as a by-product of improving memory management within the browser. Other browsers handle the site by just temporarily disabling the script engine if the page uses too much memory, I'd guess the 3DS has been made to do the same.

It still crashes, just doesn't freeze the whole system.

I found that a favorite in the browser has limited number of letters that can be inputed. So if you create a website that overwrites the name, in theory you could create a buffer overflow.

why dont we do this

1) get x amount of ppl to donate x amount of money
2) offer x amount to the first person that can make a 3ds flash card
(if turn out like Microsoft case with the kinect than it shud not take long)
