Having trouble accessing TPB even through a proxy over the past 24 hours? It seems the now notorious file sharing site has fallen victim to a Distributed Denial of Service attack by an unknown group leaving it largely inaccessible for most people. Confirming the attack on their facebook page they stated in their typicaly humorous fashion "We were loling just like you, then we took a ddos to the knee. But now we're getting back up! Stronger than ever!"

The Pirate Bay is quite amazing in a few ways: it's still up regardless of lawsuits, it has been hit quite a few times and the servers are scattered. Not a bad way to go about, especially when people use it quite frequently (and IP blocks are apparently quite easy to circumvent). Still have to say that I haven't really needed TPB even though my ISP is blocking it at least for now.. Harr harr harr..?

There are much worse sites to target for DDoS than the bay.

btw, I thought that mentions of file sharing sites are not allowed here.
I don't really think there's much point in censoring it, whether you say TPB or the penguin bar everyone know what the website is anyway.

We decided a while back that if it's for legitimate news purposes sites like TPB can be named.

However that doesn't mean news threads like "omg new awesome warez site has opened" type threads are acceptable and so on.
