Hi everyone,
I try to hook games with Wiird and my USB Gecko when I start them from USB FAT HD with USBLoader GX or USBLoader CFG
I just can't get a connection from USBGecko to the game.

When I start games from original disc by using Gecko OS, I can get a hook with wiird without problems.
But when I start the same game from USB FAT HD with usbloader, then it does not work. USBGecko gets no Connection to the game.

Is anyone using Wiird and USBGecko together with some usbloader and can tell me, how to do it ?

P.S. I have already tried to enable WiiRD in CFG Loader by using the option wiird = 1 or wiird = 2

GX doesnt support WiiRD as far as i know and in CFG you must enable WiiRD from within the game options

wiird = 1 and ocarina on for the game & it works fine for me, It might be your FAT partition I use WBFS

I use OSSleepTread mode to get WiiRD working on USB Loaders.

Both GX and Neogamma should work. (If OSSLeepTread set)
Only confirming Neogamma here though.

WiiRD will detect the game running and off you go.

Okay, I will try if FAT vs. WBFS makes the difference.
I normaly use FAT. I will try with WBFS this evening and if it works I will post it here.

hey, it doesnt really belong here, but since thiss thread is small... what exactly is wiird?

Wiird is the PC program you use to hack games(create cheat codes), take screenshots or do some debugging. In order to receive anything from the game, the game needs to be started with wiird support. The code on Wii that communicates to the pc, is the code handler. There's a code handler for Ocarina only, and one for both Ocarina and Wiird.

OMG, stupid me

It was just RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual)

Wiird support is working in usbloader cfg without problems, it was just me.

To enable it, you have to set the option "wiird = 1" or "wiird = 2" in the file config.txt in sd:/usb-loader or usb:/usb-loader

Then you have to enable ocarina for the game you want to hack and set a hooktype (VBI worked fine for me in most of the games)

My fault was, that I put the mentioned wiird option in the file settings.txt instead of config.txt
Therefore it was not working, but RTFM and now its working perfectly, even with the games on the FAT partition.

With usbloader gx I still do not get it to work, so any hints on this side would be welcome

I haven't been able to get this to work. I've tried what cajon did but WiiRD just keeps sending a reset to the USB Gecko driver as seen when selecting Show WiiRD.

are you booting the game first, WiiRD only works once the game is booted not before, e.g in a loader menu

I boot the game using CFG and then start WiiRD.
Start Cfg, Load WiiRD, ignore the disconnected message, enable the WiiRD and Ocarina options (if you haven't already), and load the game. If you changed your USB Gecko to a vcom port for app debugging, you need to undo that first.

You should consider switching to Gecko dotNet.

Ok, so you're thinking that the problem is that I'm waiting to start WiiRD until after I load the game, but I should be starting WiiRD after starting CFG but before selecting my game?

Yes.

Yes.

Great. Thanks! I'll give it a try and post back in case it's helpful to someone else. Also, I have tried Gecko dotNET as well, but I ran into the same issues. In general I'm more comfortable with the way WiiRD functions.

Yes.

I did the following and it still doesn't work. Any other ideas?

1) Start CFG. I'm running version 70r36.
2) Start WiiRDGUI.
3) Enable WiiRD in CFG System menu and save.
4) Start game with "Ocarina (cheats)" option set to On and Hook Type set to VBI and OSSleepThread.

1) Switch to Gecko dotNet
2) Make sure you say yes to the autoload question (I can't remember exactly what it asks) that pops up when you start Gecko dotNet.

All I get is Connection to the USB Gecko has failed when using Gecko dotNET.

Does it matter which IOS I'm using to load the game?
