Gotta love how a thread about the Wii U turns into one about the PS Vita and Open Pandora.
You guys are all fucking morons.
let's face it. who really cares about the wii u at this point?
David Gibson at Macquarie Capital Securities cares about it.... he earns money making shit articles about it
david gibson at macquire capital isn't on gbatemp, is he? or am i missing something...
no... he's on macquire capital

(yeah, my posts are offtopic... like the vita & pandora ones)

Yes, doesn't mean we ALL care about them. Other people do though. What gives others the right to come and start flame wars about it?
wait what? there was never any flame war. just people started mentioning the vita and someone posted a pic of a pandora and you got all butthurt. (no offense, that's just really what happened)

Nintendo appeals to kids and there are millions of them out there. I don't see the fail in this for Nintendo. Under 12 year olds don't like COD and that is where Nintendo are pitching their market. And that is one huge f'ing market where parents generally foot the bill.

Take it to Xbox and PS3 level and you have the 14-30 age bracket with struggling young people trying to find a job and scrape enough money together to buy the latest overpriced console and hopefully a couple of games.

I know this is a gross over generalisation of the topic but, I am trying to paint a very general picture of Nintendo’s marketing strategy. If Nintendo can produce a cut price console with a ton of games that appeal to kids, what do you think is going to be jammed under every Christmas tree? You also have a huge following of die hard fans who will buy it no matter what. From what I have seen of most 360, PS3 owners, there is a lot less loyalty towards the manufacturer but, instead they will usually follow the games and best price point

I only see win here for Nintendo.

I care about solid proof, not speculation.
nintendo themselves said that it isn't going to be as powerful as the current HD consoles. not exactly word for word, but they implied it by dancing around admitting it (while not denying it) in their response to the "rumor" when it was indeed a rumor.

i have like four mcdonalds cheezburgerz (yes, i'm american), and i don't plan to eat them until tomorrow. do i put them in the fridge? or just keep them in the bag in my room? i don't want the buns to get hard.

Yawn, these guys said the same thing about the Wii and that the PS3 was going to crush both ,Wii and Xbox 360.

Common knowledge, there was a article a while ago that had all the quotes from the "expert" analyses guys, their predictions and how that got it so wrong, if you dig around you can prolly find it. They all though the PS3 would sell like the PS2, Nintendo and Microsoft would struggle to sell 20 million, it would be their last console, they would go third party like Sega, etc etc

Mcdonalds has that much preservative and other crap added it has a pretty good half life. Just whack it in the fridge and then nuke it when you feel like a burger.

Um, no. They said they aren't focusing on tech more than gameplay, which says nothing about just how powerful the tech in it will be, nor did the statement make anything to form a comparison to current technology. The implied idea is your opinion, nothing more. A fact on the matter, however, is that they have not made one console/handheld that wasn't better than the best of the prior generation. They have no reason to change that now.

So a random spokesperson refusing to answer a question and nearly word for word reciting Reggie Fils-Aime doctrine is "admitting" now?

Also who the fuck are you and why haven't I noticed you before. Someone this retarded posting around USN would have caught my eye

they made it clear that the rumor was true. they didn't deny it at all. they made no attempt to stomp the rumor out. they just basically said "yeah we heard about that rumor. but hey, we're not about making the most powerful console! we're all about the same nintendo shit you've been having for 20 somewhat years."
it isn't exactly opinion, more like common sense.

and you see, they do have reason to change that. they used to make the most powerful systems, then they just took a break and downgraded by a generation with the DS and wii. so in the future, just like they themselves said, they're not focusing on tech power. they apparently have no reason to make it powerful. why when they can make it shitty (in comparison to xbox3/ps4 specs) and still sell it to children all over the world?

and thanks Mantis41!

Anyone who, you know, actually posts here can feel free to appraise my status as an alleged member of the "nintendo defence force"
As for you, if the site has gone down the shitter that much, you'd better find a new one. In fact, you should probably head on back to /r/gaming where you belong.

Woah, fuck off your high horse buddy.

...anyway, we will see just how powerful it is once it is actually released guys.

You're assuming again that by not denying, then it's true, which it isn't. They neither confirmed nor denied the power of the Wii U to any comparable device out right now. They simply said they aren't focusing on tech more than gameplay. If you really want to assume what they said, then why not assume that their not focusing on tech is simply saying they aren't using the best available as of this moment? That can be implied as well.
And to go off your "break" analogy, a break is a short rest period. That would imply that at some point in the future from the start of the break, they'd come back once again. You should have said that they were retiring form the technology race, but too late. You should have made your assumption as such.
