Sorry, newb here. I just did the 6.20 update coming from 5.00 m33-6 and did the permanent hack. I then added the version.txt file to say that I'm on 6.60. I downloaded Final Fantasy VII-IX on my ps3, and wanted to play them on my psp. The games copied just fine. However, when I try to start them I get an error that says the game could not start.

Am I S.O.L. on this?

A couple more questions I have....

1) Once I choose which firmware to go with can I change it later if I want to? Like if I choose to go with 6.2 and later decide I want to try 6.6 can I switch?

2) Can you access the PSN store with either of these firmwares?

Thanks!

What happens when you try starting them without the CFW enabled (as in you boot into OFW) Are there keys.bin files within each game folder?(along with the doc.dat and eboot.bin)

Yes and Yes.

Thanks for the reply. I'm on 6.20 permanent CFW not 6.6. I have the version text hack so pan thinks I'm on 6.6. Do I really need to be on 6.60 to play these games?

can you use CW cheats on 6.60 temp or no?

Yes.

Hold down the Select button from a full power off and you start in OFW. Do you have the keys.bin files?

Would those have come with the game? I copied them directly from the ps3.

SO when I start with OFW, and try to start some of the games I get "The copyright protection information is invalid." On others it tells me I need to be on 6.30 or higher. *sigh* Why did I buy these games again?

The first time you play them they should definitely be there after you've exited out, if not after the initial transfer.

The simplest way to fix this issue would just to update to 6.60 and use 6.60 PRO B10. That would eliminate the issue that ensues with faking firmware to allow transfers. You bought the games because they're awesome and great to actually have. You also want to support the continuing development of the sort of games you like and by purchasing them it's a metaphorical vote of confidence for those genres. Never regret a purchase of a good game...reserve that for awful ones.

I just looked in the folders and there is a document.dat in every folder.

I asked about keys.bin, not doc.dats. Each folder should have an EBOOT.PBP, document.dat and a keys.bin. Three things.

I can't get Hellcat's recovery flasher 1.65 to go into advanced mode. I'm holding L+R+Select right after starting the application, until it just gives me the non-advanced menu. What am I doin' wrong?

It turns out my select button doesn't work.. Wtf.
I'm currently on cfw 5.00 M33-6. Is there any way I can upgrade to cfw 6.60 PRO without using hellcat's?

See if you can just run the 6.20 or 6.60 update natively, if not...

Go into the recovery menu and enable the option to use version.txt in the /seplugins/ folder, then go to that folder on your memory stick and make version.txt with this in it.

Code:
release:5.00:
build:2740,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:46876@release_500,0x05000010:
vsh:p6264@release_500,v46652@release_500,20081010:
target:1:WorldWide

Restart and see if you can do the update.

No luck with the method you suggested. I have now managed to install a clean 5.50 OFW using an alternative application.
Now on to the next speed bump. The 6.60 OFW update is displayed as 'corrupted data', and cannot be run. Any ideas as to why?

Ah, I've read the guide too hastily and renamed both the folder and the eboot to "update". Stupid me.
I finally managed to install the 6.60 cfw. In one of the two games I tested right now, no buttons work. In the other one it's fine. Maybe I'll try the 6.20 cfw instead tomorrow. What a drag :P
Thanks for your support, Rydian! Appreciate it :)
