My guess is that you are starting reading this topic with in mind that there is already similar one like it. But a lot of time when I talk with 3DS owners this subject comes up. All of them own atleast an iPhone4/Touch4 or iPad and uses it for gaming aswell. Myself I have a Touch4 since two years now with about 100$ worth of games on my iTunes.

My first pick is Dead Space. I felt it was a good game experience except for the control wich my thumbs sometime "falls" of the button and have to look at the button to get it right again. Too heavy for the eShop, I would buy it in retail cartridge with of course a multiplayer mode, why not similar to RE:R?, StreetPass and I am in for DLC.

My second pick is really hard to say. I miss a good tower defense game on my 3DS. I tried many on my Touch4 and Spice Bandits or Tower Madness seem suited for Nintendo's eShop. Same price or doubled, I will buy.

If I made you think about it, please drop a line or two !

Why would I want a bunch of half-assed ports and casual games on a real game system? Leave the shovel-ware on smartphones for the hipsters.
It's funny because Nintendo is known for making ports and casual games.
How long have you played games? Nintendo only started that Casual bullshit for the Wii. and DS and what ports, if anything Nintendo is known for not having half the third party library as anyone else.

Nintendo doesn't have very many (if at all) ports of games on other systems.
Nintendo doesn't make shovelware - it just happened to let other developers make it and release it on their system.

Also, I agree with Zantigo, the less casual shovelware the 3DS gets - the better.

Yeah, and it's become what they're known for now. nintendo isn't known for what they were known for when the SNES and N64 came out - that's ridiculous.

Funny, that's why we got RE:R, MGS and KI:U right? The DS and Wii are known for their casual games. Not Nintendo.

What;s with the hostility to the appstore? It has dozens of good games.
And hundreds of thousands of bad ones.

But that aside, people involved with gaming despise the App Store because it's making customers expect shallow experiences for $0.99, driving them as far as possible away from the traditional gaming market. It's the opinion of many that Apple is "killing" gaming.

Yes exactly. Prime example of casual games killing gaming:

The other day I was talking to my friend about internet caps, he said he kept going over his 10GB limit. I said, "Yeah, what are you doing mostly, watching films and youtube?"
he replied with "I do quite a bit of gaming, and BT say that takes a lot of data"
"Oh really, I didn't know you were into games. What do you play?"
"Farmville and Mafia Wars, I think they're what's taking up all my 10GB".

I wouldn't say "Killing" gaming since I will admit that the casuals are nice (most of the time) when made by a decent developer, what's pissing me off is that people want to say that a media player can replace a dedicated gaming system, if anything its just telling devs that they can make more cash from making boring repetitive games then making fun and orginal games.

None of those are casual games and none of those are made by Nintendo so I dunno what you're drinking.

@Wizerak: I said ports. Nintendo is known for porting practically any game that did well on a home console to a handheld. That should've been obvious, but whatever.

But isn't that the eShop's focus, to provide direct competition to the App Store? Full games with maximum replay value are released to retail, eShop gets all the one-note casual puzzle games like Pullblox and Pyramids or mini platformers like Freakyforms and Mighty Switch FarceForce. Those are on par with so many App Store games like Angry Birds. The major difference is that the eShop doesn't have the same price points as the App Store, so you're unlikely to see the "pull my finger" apps and the billions of free apps, most of which suck. You're more likely to see the better app store games like Infinity Blade, Chaos Rings or the FF/SoM ports.

Very few iPhone apps have held my attention for long, the notable exceptions being games made by Square Enix and Lucas Arts (read: Monkey Island). Also, I play the shit out of Boggle and Words With Friends on a daily basis to keep my vocabulary fresh :ha: I don't see the eShop doing things any differently until they start selling retail games for download. Even then I'll probably still buy the carts.

For now, I do agree with others and I'd like to keep most of the app store games on the iPhone. Phones are much more appropriate for Uber-casual games, IMO, and I'd rather stick with playing classic VC titles and full size retail games on my 3DS.

Last time I looked none of the DS or Wii casual games were made by Nintendo either, sure Mario galaxy was easy but it made up for it by adding harder challenges and such at the end, you just de-bunked your own arguement.

Wheres my GTA, KH 1 and 2, Mass Effect, Elder scrolls, Fallout and Bioshock ports?
