Hacking DSBrick and 3DS

if you use the old dsbricker on a DSi or 3DS the only thing that could happen is that some settings get lost. Because some settings are still stored in the NVram.

The 3DS "partially emulates" the DSi though, it's not actually a DS/DSi hardware-wise, this is why the same operation may have a completely different effect on it.

But the NVram is also present in the 3DS so why should they emulate it ?

Because sandboxing a hacked console mode is more secure?

Why the hell should they sandbox a device that is only used in ds(i) mode? That is like unsecuring a sandbox (If you add or change data there the 3ds software dosen't even notice it).

edit2 - second file did nothing but crash the card to the 3DS "Software closed. Press button below to power off or press home to go to the home menu." screen. Videos coming in a few minutes.

oh Wow, I didn't think that was possible.

Hopefully the next firmware update will overwrite the corrupted code. (of course, it might brick all the way )

Well the format fixed the corruption, but the next time an update rolls out I'll brick DS and DSi functionality again and see what happens when I update. I was surprised though, I wasn't expecting it either. I kinda want to test if FlashME has any effect now.

I don't think so, because the cart is only running in DS mode. However, it's launched by the 3DS which does the checking to make sure it is a valid cartridge (or appears valid). That's why in the video, after corrupting the DS firmware, I was still able to launch the cart, but booting into DS mode error-ed.

Well since we know now that the ds and dsi are bundled together, I wonder what'll happen if you install flashme and then try to go to a dsi game?

Just tried to install FLashMe Normal v8a with my Supercard DST­WO, the installer reported back "Unknown BIOS" and wouldn't install.

I would try NitroFS, but I would assume that it would do the same thing. But I also can't find it anywhere. Hell, I don't even know if it's called that or if it's something else.

Edit - the hell, writing the name of the flash card linked to some flash cart selling site automatically... I had to put an invisible character in there (Alt-0173) to get it to go away o.o
