So, Halo; it's kind of popular. For Microsoft, it's a money printing machine, so another series of Halo games once Bungie departed was basically inevitable.

Well, some screen shots of the game have just been leaked online, and they are sure to get people talking. (And the fans, I'm sure, are reacting similarly to this)

I don't care for the Halo series at all, so I can't say I'm all that enthralled by these screens. Still, they are pretty nice graphically, so I will give credit where credit is due.

The article mentions that Microsoft's "press embargo" lifts today, so we'll likely learn more about why Master Chief has to stoically grip his gun in different environments this time. Now, I can't say for certain, but if I had to hazard a guess...

Given that this spartan IS the master chief and not generic multiplayer spartan x8835270.3 then this has implications.

The armor is different from any mark armor so far seen in the Halo series, meaning that wherever the chief has landed, there is humans, allies. Or forerunners happen to have made Mjolnir armor surprisingly similar to human Mjolnir armor.

Here's a screenshot of Halo Reach for comparison.

If this is how the game looks in motion and with everything else applied, then kudos, it looks pretty good.

I just hope they fix the stupid animations. I know it's kinda iconic of the series now (from like Red vs. Blue and stuff) but it's kinda annoying in an age where animation is top notch for video games.

you sure know your Halo :D

I Love me some Halo multiplayer. i think some of my best Multiplayer- Memoires come from Halo 2. So Good....

I couldn't get into the singleplayer though and I don't know why, since it looks interesting!

The screenshots Look cool and we saw with CoD that different Teams can do a Good job as well!

From what i understand, the Chief wakes up with that new armor, he doesn't find it.

How can one wake up with new armor randomly? o.O Wish I had that ability.

Hopefully they explain it in the story. Maybe the ship designed the armour its self or got a wireless update with new blueprints. :P

Also, this video is pretty good, explains a lot and shows what they have so far. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/05/halo-4-bringing-the-battle-rifle-back-introducing-unlockable-ab/

I thought I was the only one who played Halo for the story :)

I reckon Cortana had plenty of time to do armour research while John was catatonic due to Cryo. Maybe they present the blueprints to a new race because chiefs suit is failing etc.

Very unlikely, sounds more like Mass Effect than Halo, but Halo does need a friendly advanced alien race (besides the now friendly elites, they were only a fraction of the covenant).

I can't wait to see the viral marketing on this, Bungie used to do it all very well and the speculation on the forums was so much fun :) (I remember Halo 3's viral... I am your shield, I am your sword).

In OOT after pulling out the master sword and falling asleep for 7 years or whatever, Link finds himself with a larger set of clothes and some ear piercings.

Halo's story? It looks like we've got some real comedians on this site...

Anyway, Gamesradar did an in depth breakdown of a just-released behind the scenes video of the game. For all those interested, you can find it here.

It may be a crappy story but it's still a story. Only reason I play CoD games too.

There is 4 books mate. I reccomend a read through if you're a sci-fi war-literature fan.
The books are ok at best. Most of it doesn't even follow the in-game story.

Also @Guild Mass Effect has 3 books out now...

A game's story has to stand on its own merits; the expanded universe may be nice (hell, it could amazing), but that isn't a part of the equation.

We've left the days of the Atari 2600; pretty much every game now has a story, so it can't be that much of a novelty. If you're going to follow a series for the story, then follow a series that has a good one.
