You can access OFW with cIPL via holding Home during boot (I have cIPL on my PSP)

any other advantages u can think of?

updated first post ^_^

To cIPL? Well, it's permanent on the latest FW (i.e. 6.60), and the only method of doing that. It's also less buggy than Perma Patch, which has caused a few bricks I believe (cIPL hasn't had any reported as far as I am aware). I don't have any experience with Perma Patch, so I don't really know what other differences exist if any.

hum.... do u have better experiances with plugins n such on 6.60?

Nah not really. I only installed CFW about a week and a half ago. I have tried a few plugins (CMXB, Hold+, CFW Extender, Game Categories) and they all seem to work OK for me. Hold+ is a particularly useful one for me, as I listen to music on my PSP quite a bit. Dunno if thats the same as the "Hold" plugin you mentioned in the first post? Maybe it's known by different names...

I haven't tried any of the other plugins you mentioned that weren't bolded. Although I have heard that Audio Boost can cause problems with headphones not working when the plugin is enabled unless you turn the volume down to three below maximum.

Haven't tried any of those apps either (yet). I use PSP Filer for file management, maybe Xplora 2 is better, will have to look at that. Also been meaning to try KVM to try out Opera Mini, see if it works much better than the official browser.

CIPL flasher (Custom IPL flasher), installs a custom IPL to your nand. The Custom IPL is what loads the custom firmware files on boot, thus making the custom firmware "permanent". This method only works with PSP 1000's, and PSP 2000s (non-TA-088v3), and is what all "full" custom firmwares (non-LCFW's and HEN's) use by default.

The permanent loader is for 6.20 only (it was patched by Sony in later firmwares), and is an alternative to using a Custom IPL. This method is popular, because it works with all PSP models, including the Go (5g or lower), and will make your LCFW/HEN "permanent".

So in conclusion, they both accomplish the same goal, but one only works with fully hackable PSP's (CIPL Flasher), and the other only works on firmware 6.20 (Permanent Patch). If you're using the permanent patch for 6.20 PRO, then there's really no reason to use a CIPL, especially if you don't have a fully hackable PSP (you'll brick).

Won' the CIPL installer just refuse to work if you don't have a fully hackable PSP rather than cause a brick?

from what i have read is that if u dont have a fully moddable psp it can cause a perma brick

I'm pretty sure it will have been programmed to detect unhackable mobos and not install on them. It would be plain stupid not to.

EDIT: Yeah, just checked the source code. It does indeed check the model and refuse to run on unhackables.

nice then i might just jump to 6.60

PSPIdent clearly states that your PSP is moddable with cIPL capacity. Go for it, it's the best of options.

There is only one risk involved when installing cIPL - if you will choose to uninstall the CFW at some point, remember to first remove the cIPL, otherwise booting the PSP might be... problematic (Unless holding HOME works, I did not try that, actually). I ended up buying a Pandora in that case.

naw its gonna be modded forever lol thou im correct in understanding that pro 10 fix1 is basicly the best option cfw wise no matter what firmware and all correct?

For now, yes. Of course, once Pro-B 11 comes out and is shown to be stable (wait at least a week after it's release) then it won't be.

If there is a B11. I see no real reason for them to have a release before moving to C (which will add PRO Online, which allows playing ad-hoc only games over the internet, without have to use stuff like XLink Kai or whatever it's called. It will also add a custom Home menu in games, with online status stuff and probably a few other things too)

That sounds absolutely delicious.

A server/client will be necessary for online though - they're not gods. Plus, XLink Kai is as easy to set up as it gets, so I'm not complaining.

I believe it's going to be running on PRO servers. The end user just needs to forward some ports on their router or something to make it work (in later versions they make have that done automatically as well).

PRO-C was announced a few PRO-B versions ago... we got B8, B9, and B10 after C was announced, so who's to say there won't be a B11 first? C looks to be a big project and it's understandable it'll take time.
agreed Rydian if their plan is to CREATE a psp online community then they dont exactly have alot of ground work done system wise. look at ps2.... online SUCKED but when it worked it was bangin

Bear in mind Coldbird did set up a dedicated God Eater server. It'd be interesting to know if he had decided to come back to work on PRO again or if he really has had his fill.

No idea at all. I've not followed any server developments because i generally loathe multiplayer and have never played God Eater...so maybe???

Anyhow for those who've not seen it

Small update, I did a somewhat uh... lets call it goofy... implementation of most PTP functions... the code is ugly, copy and pasted over and over... and not too performant...
But now, next to God Eater Burst, Phantasy Star Portable 2 works too with it...

Have to test more games still and give this code yet another cleanup next weekend...
But now its bedtime for me... school + test tomorrow, this will be a long week.

I really wish I had a few weeks where I have nothing else to do so I could get this thing going faster...

On another note... while I work on the online code, I asked VF to help me out in preparing Pro CFW for the online mode...
He agreed and is currently investigating impose.prx, the module which controls the Home-Screen you see when you press the Home / PS-Button.

We intend to fully replace this homescreen with a proper replacement, hacked right into the heart of impose.prx, allowing for clean home screen replacements.
We do this to make room for a ingame PRO-CFW menu / infoscreen, which will fully replace the original home menu.

Once online mode has been built in, it will be used to display data like your online status, connected players, etc.

There are newer posts by him but that one seems the most comprehensive.
